Re: Trade Latest from The Age...2 out of 4 so far
Sam sounds more likely on Kieth and still 50/50 on Jones.
Ryder AA in 2017, wow. It’s amazing to think players like Mumford can come out of retirement and recover from injury and contribute but Ryder is a lost cause.
He may pay off or it might not work out but I reckon it’s a great way forward to bring experience and support that isn't costly.

Still not sure why we want Keath.
Good player but not one we need surely?

Why are we so happy about Zak for. He is poor at disposals, and usually happen near goal? Hard pass for me

Re: Trade Latest from The Age...2 out of 4 so far
He played in the Swans GF side in 2016 against the Dogs as a kid. Swans were very good then. Got 20 possies from memory. He will be better in Melbourne being close to home too. He is a speed demon and hard at it. He is not an elite kick but he breaks lines. Himself and Hill on wings is a good lineup IMO.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 7:57pm Why are we so happy about Zak for. He is poor at disposals, and usually happen near goal? Hard pass for me
BTW, Viki and Linda Bull sung the national anthem in the 2016 GF and they were pretty good.

I guess having him down back doing Battle's role might free Josh up to go forward? If we trade Bruce it might be handy to have a new forward freed up.Viscount Jeremiah wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 7:09pm Still not sure why we want Keath.

I cannot be definite on what Keath knows. So you would need to ask Keath if he is definite that we will not get Keith.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 8:51pmWhat about Keath?

We are getting everyone this trade period...the next thing you will know is that Greta Thunberg will join us after sailing to Moorabbin from New York on her solar panel boat.

You can lock Jones in.
Basically a straight swap for Bruce. Whatever we get for Josh from the Dogs goes to Sydney for Jones!

Re: Trade Latest from The Age...2 out of 4 so far
This is what I do not understand
Bruce to WB and Jones in
There is a caveat being that I know nothing of Jones except descriptions on here
But from those descriptions on here I understand that Jones is a mid field come defender with pace - so not like for like with Bruce
Who may be like for like with Jones is Steven - so if Steven goes why not use that Pick for Jones and retain Bruce - a KPP where, absent McCartin we lack resources confirmed by the deployment of Membrey who is 188cm
We may then at least partially cover the loss of Steven - if that happens

Sounds like the expected pick for Steven won’t suffice the Swans for Jones. Whether we agree with it or not.
Also not sure the direct pick recurved to trade a player out needs to be used on the same type of player coming in? I think trading and drafting is not as linear as that.

Thanks for sharing.
Probably a little less being received for Bruce and a little bit more being paid for Jones in my opinion.
Maybe it works out? Be interesting to see if they are agreeing to similar contracts (length and money) with the respective clubs.

Re: Trade Latest from The Age...2 out of 4 so far
The knock on him is he turns it over and can butcher it by foot, we know that so coming back to your question, it has to be midefild depth obviously. He's a first round draft pick and played in the 2016 GF and for a club that has a good system. He's a defender mid so does Ratts think he can mitigate his weakness by using him forward of the ball and rotate through the center to be tbe extractor and then run to the sticks. This draft is about mids and as many as we can get.
I think the harder question is why do we need Keath based on the obvious over stocking of defenders of his type, maybe we are just stockpiling good players that we can get within our low budget of draft/bargaining chips.
As a side note I think we'll see Gears handover the captaincy to Seb and Gears will also head back to the future by playing more as a forward defender and occasionally rotate through the mid, and I stress occasionally, especially say on the days where our mids are getting monstered in a run against us and we just need to send him in to absorb an onslaught and give the softies some perspective from the outside.
It's where all average users of the ball by foot will retire.
Expect only the best kicks to be in the backline in 2020.

I like your view on Jones and how you see him playing or fitting in. I cannot see him in defence when the development of Clark and Coffield relies on those two being in defence.Pundit wrote: ↑Thu 26 Sep 2019 6:23amThe knock on him is he turns it over and can butcher it by foot, we know that so coming back to your question, it has to be midefild depth obviously. I'll also be wary of rating his disposal skills in comparison to our list. If we'd listened to some on here Nick Hind would never have been given a shot but his F50 entries and disposal / decision making inside 50 was first rate.
I see Keath as a reasonable move, it allows Battle to come back to the forward line. I'm not quite sure we are over stocked when it's broken down to quality (Austin), age (Brown), length of contracts (Carlisle) and experience (Clavarino). What I do know is our defence will be tall in 2020.
Interesting thoughts on Geary, whilst it seems logical, I'd rather a defensive forward that can make himself dangerous with overheard marking and kicking.
Hill, Jones, Keath and Ryder will make 2020 very interesting in terms of structure and selection, if they all come. Plus the likelihood of Roberton, King, Bytel, Geary and Coffield making claims as players not in the 22 from the last few games of 2019.

Battle and Bruce aren't like for like.
One more mid to add to Hill, Jones, Keaf and Ryder would be nice.
It was reported that they put a massive offer to Isaac Smith.

Still hopeful Constable is our guy.
Say him and a third rounder for Steven would be enough for me

Smith is starting to fade imo, will be 31 in a month or so. No thanks. Maybe Keath if the price is reasonable. Can he go in the ruck occasionally? I would rather a young draftee mid than Jones, and develop further our current young potential mids - Clark, Coffield, Paton etc.

I think Keath is just a backup if a big offer comes for Carlisle.
Yes, we've said he's not going anywhere, but the Pies are reportedly sniffing around and if they want him bad enough, we take the nice deal and grab Keath.
