Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
There was talk of Scott was going to tell his manager if he was going for coaching role or not ....has anyone heard wether this was true or not .
Club I feel if it was going to be Ratts it would be done by now , if it’s Harvey do they have to wait until pies are knocked out of finals , if it’s another coach from another they would have to wait ....if it is still Scott they could do it now but that would show that he already had the gig weeks ago but are playing the game of ...we search and interview people of good character and he was the best line.
Which will it be ?

want harvey, would sigh in resignation at ratts - very understandable choice, would be pretty surprised and not happy if they go for scott.

It's down to a field of two in my mind.
I'm still pissed-off with those Scott brothers for their behavior toward Riewoltd when he was a kid, so that's a no from me.
Ratten is probably the safe choice, but Robert Harvey is the higher risk, potentially higher reward prodigal son.
Not sure who gets my vote.

Re: Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
Would love Ratts to get the gig - I really feel he is the best one for the job right now.
I love the romance of Robert Harvey coaching us to our second premiership, but would be utterly horrified if his dream ended badly (and just statistically, most coaches end up being sacked when results aren't as pretty as what the club wants) and our club moved him on.

Re: Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
Harvs has already felt the cold chill of rejection by us in the past after his caretaking was not followed by any offer for the real gig, so perhaps we should be less horrified, but I totally agree, and we concede that thou shall never ask, is it the cult of Robert Harvey we cherish and need to uphold beyond any expectations based on rationality (which are often highly dubious in any job hiring assignments anyway, let alone in the coaching selecting business)Harves Man wrote: ↑Mon 19 Aug 2019 11:21pm Would love Ratts to get the gig - I really feel he is the best one for the job right now.

Nobody would disagree that Robert Harvey leading a team of Saints into a preliminary let alone grand final final wouldn’t be just one of the proudest moments we as fans could experience, but do we want a populist sentiment? Carlton seem to have one and conveniently just beat us. Perhaps we should too.
I still don’t know any reason that Ratts is better than any other potential candidate except that he is there now. So it’s good enough for me, to accept that for the time being. Please someone tell me some good or bad points about Ratts’s coaching.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Must say I’m surprised with the support for Harvs, given his shyness and inability to express himself well in the public arena. Would be Richo Mark II in that aspect.

Ratts is $1.20 and next line is Scott at $6 Banger $7
So good money to be had!

If you are referring to the game Roo broke his collar bone and was bumped by Michael and C.Scott, B.Scott did not play in that match.Toy Saint wrote: ↑Mon 19 Aug 2019 10:45pm It's down to a field of two in my mind.

Re: Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
I love Harves, however, he hasn’t coached his own team. Imo that’s a pretty important feature of a coaches cv.
Being a successful line coach is good, but having proof that you can inspire 40 or so men between 18 - 30 and communicate and execute a game plan with them through your line coaches is very important. Harves hasn’t done this yet.
I don’t think it matters what level you do it at either. But IMO he needs to tick that box in order to get a head gig.
Ratts for me.
As a player he was successful.
As a head coach he has been successful
As a line coach he has been extremely successful.
He’s been under some of the coaching greats of the game.
He has plenty of real life experience.
Sign him up.

I think Scott would justify me becoming a Richmond supporter.desertsaint wrote: ↑Mon 19 Aug 2019 10:07pm want harvey, would sigh in resignation at ratts - very understandable choice, would be pretty surprised and not happy if they go for scott.
I am entitled to hope for another premiership in my remaining lifetime.
He carries on as if It is all about Scott not about the playing group.

Re: Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
can you name the last premiership coach that came to the club with previous senior coaching experience?
since leigh matthews there's been just one, and his next team sacked him when they sat bottom on 1-7 in his third year.

Re: Scott,harvey ,ratts or ??
Ratts sure is king of the kids - but appears to me to have zero fire in his belly. Appoint him and we can look forward to 3 more years of mediocrity imo. On the upside, by then Lenny might be ready.
