ttps://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/glouftsis-t ... 51nr8.htmlEleni Glouftsis has become the latest field umpire to be dropped by the AFL in the wake of poor performances.
The Age understands Glouftsis will umpire in the VFL this week, following a string of poor decisions, including two crucial errors in the St Kilda versus West Coast clash last Saturday night, which resulted in two goals to the Eagles.

Re: mmmmmm- Umpire Movement Rd 9
Correct move AFL. Of course its cold comfort to know the margin was 3 goals. Umpires fortunately do not effect the result of games, which is a relief given some decisions. Hard to claim they don't effect percentage though.

And the Umpires are whining. Unbelievable! They're not volunteers, I'm sure they''re paid decently and many of them are incompetent. Also, it seems that they're petulant.
Sack a whole lot them and bring in some new ones. Also, sack the idiots coaching them.

Can we have those 2 goals back?

At the risk of sounding like a sexist pig, I was very disappointed that all of the umpires chose not to bounce the ball last Saturday. I'm of the view that Eleni is unable to bounce the ball, and her colleagues chose not to show her up by also not bouncing the ball. Unfortunately she made some shocking decisions and deserves to be dropped.

Seriously???? The turf in the middle of the ground was relayed and there was no way it was hard enough to bounce the ball - do you have any clue?Toy Saint wrote: ↑Wed 15 May 2019 9:28pm At the risk of sounding like a sexist pig, I was very disappointed that all of the umpires chose not to bounce the ball last Saturday. If you were at the ground you would have seen the umpires out there testing it before the game, if you have watched any replays, you would have heard them saying it - cheap shot at Eleni and women umpires.

However - I was one of the people at the game expressing my disappointment at her obvious mistakes and she had a shocker and firmly believe she changed the course of the game - however - it was not her fault that they balled up rather than bounce

Where’s the Dud?
Apparently it’s me that needs to learn the rules. I called both those disgusting calls at the time as a joke. Game winning mistakes.

pre game coverage said the umps tried to bounce it, but because it was new turf there was little bounce, so decided to throw up before the gameToy Saint wrote: ↑Wed 15 May 2019 9:28pm At the risk of sounding like a sexist pig, I was very disappointed that all of the umpires chose not to bounce the ball last Saturday. Re: mmmmmm- Umpire Movement Rd 9
I wasn’t particularly happy about her umpiring against us but I don’t see why it’s necessary her to be publicly shamed like this. She made some mistakes, like the others do. Move on. No one at AFL House seems to care when we get a 30-8 free kick count in Perth. Is it because she’s female that we’re reading about it in the paper?
We should be encouraging more women into the game. This will have the opposite effect.

Re: mmmmmm- Umpire Movement Rd 9
If they can’t do it they shouldn’t. Had a female umpire our local Under 16 Grand Final and destroy it last season. Even after numerous coaches requested she not do U16 matches as she wasn’t up to it.

And yet the umpires bounced the ball in the centre there on Sunday in the roos v cats game where the crowd was 21,156.ausfatcat wrote: ↑Wed 15 May 2019 10:25pmpre game coverage said the umps tried to bounce it, but because it was new turf there was little bounce, so decided to throw up before the gameToy Saint wrote: ↑Wed 15 May 2019 9:28pm At the risk of sounding like a sexist pig, I was very disappointed that all of the umpires chose not to bounce the ball last Saturday. Great call AFL
Just deplorable umpiring - don’t care if she’s stays in vfl for an extended spell
Don care if it’s man or woman
If you’re incompetent - GO

Where are you Dudley?
You said the umps were great last game and we needed to just learn the rules!
They were that good that one of them got the boot.

Re: mmmmmm- Umpire Movement Rd 9
How many of you have umpired a real game at any level?
I did one game for my mates in Frankfurt when we played Munich and got abused for over an hour. I really feel for the Umps as you will continuously piss off half of the people for the whole game.
People who yell at the Umpires (in any game) are missing the point. No umpires, no game. Look at yourselves.

Re: mmmmmm- Umpire Movement Rd 9
After a couple of early shockers by her, I watched her closely for the whole game and believe she was blatantly biased against the Saints.
I am very pleased she has been dropped and her poor decisions have been recognised. Hopefully we don't see her again in a St KIlda match.
