Nick Hind to play next week...its a must

Post: # 1784355Post tedtheodorelogan2018 »

Watched the whole Sandy game. Pretty sure he got 40 touches and completely dominated. He is super quick and has excellent foot skills. Barely missed a target all day. We might have found another player alongside Wilkie and Parker from the mature crop. Great recruitment. Think he might replace Dmac who went off in the 2nd and never returned due to concussion.

Was just thinking the same thing. Our biggest issue today was getting the ball out of our defensive 50 with some poise and I thought what was missing was a quarter back with speed to break the lines. With Dmac likely to miss next week, it would be the right time time for him to debut.

He hasn't done enough to hold his spot IMO . I thought we was gone last week & was one of our worst players today but again IMO

Hind was good compared to most of the others very disappointing game from Sandy . After quarter time they were pretty much a rabble couldn't convert & their defense was terrible . Didn't see too many Saints listed players do much to get me exited. Hind was the exception.

Maybe for DMac?
Thought Paton got better as the game wore on, but looked a little over his head.

Plus Geary to come back

Yes Hind for Kent for mine.

Kent just does not get his hands on the ball often enough.

Plus if it is pace you are after I think h is an upgrade there too.

I agree that he got better as the game wore on.

He also seemed to be a creative and accurate user of the ball, and quick to decide who to give the ball to.

I thought Paton was great today. Some really good defensive efforts.

Anyone else think Membrey was a bit off today?

he had a crap load of the ball and barely missed a target, he got caught once trying to take on a tackle, but he is always trying something. He is lightening quick and runs at that speed all day. My only question mark on him is his strength in a contest, he is very light.

I think of the guys that came into the team like Patton and Clark, that both deserve to stay in the team. The backline was absolutely awesome and with a win like yesterday it is sometimes symbolic to keep the team unchanged going into next week

For structure you can't drop any of the tall forwards or Nathan Brown. I think Acres and Bruce make some of their team mates walk taller and loving the hardness of some of the smaller blokes like Parker. You can't drop Gresh or Sinclair because I think they are classier and way ahead of Hind.

Might even be difficult to squeeze in the captain if there's no obvious match up. We didn't need Hanners yesterday. I saw Steele, Newnes, Ross, Billings and even 'The prospect' show great leadership. Keep the team the same I say

Hind definitely deserves a game.

I would have selected him from week 1 based on his pre-season form.

He was awesome for Sandy this week.

I don't think there's a spot for him. It's actually a good problem to have.
I wouldn't be dropping anyone that played in the backline. Savage and Wilkie and Patton and Jimmy Webster performed brilliantly. Battle was tough and hard as always and is holding his own at Centre Half Back.

Kent and Benny Long offer so much more as pressure forwards with better kicking skills. Newnes and Sinclair are doing a pretty good job on the wings and around the ground.

Not saying he shouldn't get a game at all, but why take the risk at the moment on a debutant with the unknown factor of how he'll perform at AFL level. While we are winning and have good form I'd keep Clark in the team because he is definitely part of the future.

Haven't seen much of him but liked him in the JLT with his speed, balance & disposal.

If D-Mac is out this would be a good replacement, though I assume Geary will come straight back in in that role.

Hind looks like he could play wing & half forward so if he warrants a spot on form you'd have to look at Kent & Parker as two most likely to be dropped. Both have been average last two weeks and Kent would have to be in the gun based on form over 4 matches.

I hope they stick with Paton who was pretty good on Sunday, particularly in the 2nd half.

Who would have guessed Lonie would be come a walk up start at selection table :D

I must admit that I had Lonie's papers stamped in 2017...Credit to him for his last half a dozen or so games

Forgot that Dmac got KO'd. Maybe Gears in if he's fit

Geary will come back in for dmac and no other back deserves to be dropped. So who to drop and why. Feel for whoever gets dropped as it was a good team win

Hopefully but Richo talked him up in the presser.

That's a fair comment, however he does the odd thing that makes you think he's got tons of ability. That perfect 40 metre kick into the corridor in the third quarter when we looked like capitulating, turned the game. He took it upon himself to break the conservative cycle we'd lapsed into and had the balls to take the risk and get something going. Despite the fact he was having an ordinary game.

I reckon that's why Richo talked him up and he'll keep his spot.

He also took a really strong mark on half forward that I thought was Membrey at first, also that kick you mentioned was elite. The distance on his left foot is really good, then he shanked that set shot out on the full.

He does the odd elite thing but just doesn't do nearly enough & appears inconsistent and has little physical presence for a guy his age and body size.

He's been a fringe player at Melbourne for 8 years, perhaps we can turn him around, but I'm doubtful from what I've seen this far.
