It always more interesting when someone commits to or owns an opinion instead of merely criticising unspecified masses.

No, the criticism on Mav wasn't fully warranted. Some of the abuse directed at Mav was gutter trash filth kind of stuff reserved for the sewers of ancient Rome.

If Mav plays in a Grand Final, and the chances are extremely high, I will be wearing his colours and cheering him on hard. Sometimes it should just be about the human aspect and enjoying someone's commitment to hard work and their endeavour to get the best out of themselves. He was one of ours and he did nothing wrong other than play sport.

Mav was ok. Not build a team around stock but ok. Capable of making his way into any best 22 but commanding a best 22 for 100 games, me thinks not. Even if he can stay in peak condition at Richmond he will struggle to stay in their best 22. They have a few players like that. He had to go.

The thing is, I thought Mav’s 2016 was incredible. Was really happy he made it into the leadership group... and then 2017 happened.

He seemingly played injured and the coaching stuff continued to select him despite very questionable form at times.

Seemed to really do a number on his confidence.

Like Hickey who also had a fantastic 2016, he just couldn’t get back to that form

He's got his opportunity to back up his suggestion he might go better in a quality team. It's happened before and it will be satisfying if the guy succeeds.

It will be a great example of what a better coach and team can do. It also builds belief in our recruitment team if he shines. IE we picked good players they just werent developed well

He was a leader and was admired by the coaches (he kept getting games) and was deemed to be an important cog.
