Anyone hear Finey on the 3RRR Party Show last night?

Post: # 1770061Post samuraisaint »

Did anyone here tune in to the Party Show after midnight on 3RRR last night. Headley Gritter who is a Saints man, hosts the program, and last night one of the guests was Finey. He was talking about boxing.
I missed the first half hour of the two hour program, but as soon as I started listening Finey's voice was unmistakable.

Does Finey do any radio these days since that fat evil weevil sacked him from SEN?

Have you heard him since on 3RRR? I've been waiting for Finey to pop up again but have heard nothing since changes made by the fat weevil. Other than via Rohan Connolly through facebook carrying on with Footyology. Evening's just aren't the same anymore especially the Finey and Peaky combination.

Just quick aside.

What does your sig mean Samuraisaint? I usually can get them but yours eludes me.

Round 22 1980 St. KIlda played North Melbourne at their home ground, Arden Street.
Across town Fitzroy played Carlton at VFL Park.
The Saints were second bottom on the ladder, 2 points ahead of the Lions who were last.
Both teams were desperate not to get the wooden spoon.
On the eve of the game Lindsay Fox promised the players a trip to Hawaii on him if they could beat North and avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.
In the last quarter we were engaged in a titanic struggle against the glamour team, the Kangaroos, while the Lions who were 7 goals behind at 3/4 time were storming home kicking 9 goals in the last quarter against the powerhouse Blues.
People were updating each other behind the goals at Arden Street, getting the updates on their transistor radios.
In a bid to lift the side the cheer squad and the other Sainters behind the goals at the old tin shed end started chanting "Hawaaiiii" "Hawaaaiii". It nearly worked; we drew.
The 'Roys lost by 4 points.

There was even a picture of a Palm Tree on the banner to inspire the players. I am not sure the players actually got the trip in the end. Lindsay said the players would get the trip if they won to avoid the spoon. Although we avoided the spoon, we only drew. Can anyone confirm this??

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Thanks. Great story. I would never have guessed that from the sig though.
