Saints trade rating
B flat grade for me.
Got 2 out of 3 tagets.
Would have been A if we landed Shiel.
Still got the big pick 4 too.

Christ, shoot me.
We already had pick 4 which was downgraded from pick 3.
This bloke is just taking the piss.

Re: Saints trade rating
Yeah, we kept pick 4. That is a big win and will be a massive bargaining chip on trade night. Bonus.

Re: Saints trade rating
With picks being able to be traded on draft night I don’t consider the trade period over. So far I’m fairly happy but if we trade 4 for 8 and something else from Adelaide I will be pissed off given there are only 7 off the 8 standout guns available.

We were perhaps not as active as were were lead to believe we would be. Unable to get our hands on anything given out cheap at the GWS and GC fire sales. D Minus.

Cannot be anything more than a C. We acquired the bear minimum of who we were expected to and lost the best ruckman on our list in the process. We go into the 2019 season with the weakest ruck stocks in the league, one of the worst midfields in the league and coach who has lost the support of his fan base. Players like Dunstan, Paddy, billings and co need to lift or we are in for another long rebuild.

Re: Saints trade rating
AGGRESSIVE?
Well our club official want to keep OVERPROMISING, but keep UNDERDELIVERING.
Maybe they need to wise and and start concentrating on delivering rather than spouting rhetoric?
Overall given that the club was bulging with salary cap $$$$$$$$$$$ the club has not had a good trade period.
We only landed 2 players that no other club wanted. I do think the price was fair though.
Both have huge question marks though and neither are sure things. I do however believe that Hannas will be good for us.
RATING. Not a fail. But a solid D. Particularly when you look at what other clubs including say Freo achieved.
Hannas should improve our midfield. But we have also lost Hickey. We are in front overall with is deal but our ruck division is poor.
The scary thing is that when you look at many other teams you can see how the the net players they have lost/gained are going to improve their starting 22.
For 2019 for the Saints to be competitive the improvement is very much going to have to come from what we already had, rather than players we have picked up.

geez wish i had you as a teacher back in the day. handing in the draft -
hey young ds, your assignment is blank, bar the task question you were meant to answer.
well mr theodore, i started with that question, and it's still there - so isn't that a win?
well yes, so far it is, hopefully you turn it into gold, your other teachers say you never do, but it's a win for me. well done, carry on young chap!

F
No A grader
No significant free agent
Nothing funky
Gave up too much in the Hickey trade
A ridiculous shuffle from 28 to 36 and 46 for some far fetched reason
Watched North Melbourne of all clubs go streets ahead
Essentially didnt deliver on any promise of being super aggressive in this trade period for the second year running and going to leave it up to kids and chance.

B+
Went hard at a few good players but didn't get them.
Improved our draft position didn't lose too much.
Only issue is we have to suffer Longer still being on the list.

Re: Saints trade rating
We got an elite midfielder set to produce more elite form
We got an upcoming mid gun about to blossom
Our rucks are stronger by having got rid of Hickey
We got the highest draft picks possible

Re: Saints trade rating
A lot of up beat people for what reason? For me a C minus I had hoped for a genuine A grader ended up with a banged up B grader & a injury plagued C grader hardly anything to get carried away with IMO .We've kept pick 4 for now but heaven knows what the idiots in charge of the asylum intend to do with it though.Looks like it's gunna be a race for the spoon next year either us or Gold Coast

Happily place a bet on this depending on the odds. Bet Easy offer $6.50 - What odds would you offer.
Or alternatively what odds would you offer for top 10? That way less obvious hedging available.

Re: Saints trade rating
Well, Armo is set to have his best season ever...
With the extra mid support, I reckon Dunstan is set to have a break out year
Longer will become the best big man in the league
Richo has fantastic support around him and a winning game plan that the players are sure to be able to execute... especially with the new cattle.
Top 4.

Re: Saints trade rating
By downgrading the 28 to a 36 and a 46, it looks as though we are going to build more depth.
If so, why were so many of the listed players currently uncontracted for 2019 left in limbo?
I would say it is looking like we are going to try to parlay our pick 3 (4) into two top ten picks. I hope we keep it and nab Rankine. Time will tell.
Disappointing we couldn't pick up an exciting prospect like we've all been hoping, but Hannebury and Kent will improve us.
Still got draft night to go. Hopefully we can pull a rabbit out of the hat then.

Re: Saints trade rating
Hey everyone - just remember it’s not compulsory to trade!
I’d Rather us be a little on the quiet side than get reamed in a trade for a “big fish”... we still have pick 4 which might benefit us on draft night, as others have mentioned.

Re: Saints trade rating
Most underwhelming. We have more space in our salary cap than most other teams yet we failed to relieve GWS and Gold Coast of their large caps.
We swapped Weller for Kent and Hickey for Hannaberry. An underwhelming half forward for an injury prone mediocre half forward and a moderate ruckman for a banged-up inside mid.
It was my understanding the club had promised to head-hunt a gun free agent at this stage in our 5 year plan. At my school this is a fail.

Re: Saints trade rating
who did they give out apart from Shiel, apart from players that can't play and unlikely to play Scully?
