AFL Site Reports regarding the Saints
So we’ve had Steven leaving for Geelong, now Long is possible trade. Now is all the reporting trying to unsettle the Saints or just to get us stirred up? It’s working... The club coming out saying it’s not happening for both. Surely the AFL has to hold some sort of standards it’s not a social media chat board.
So my question is to Damian Barrett or anyone else in the know, is Jack leaving or was it just scuttlebut. The article was posted on the AFL site so I expect more than just rumours. Especially during this period.
And....
Ben Long the report just says the Bombers asked and I suspect got told to think again. Now it’s the headline article on the App.
The AFL have to request some better reporting. Especially related to the official site. Maybe we should leak we’ve asked about Daniher and Oliver.
I get it it sells papers/clicks but come on!

Re: AFL Site Reports regarding the Saints
The question is WHO is STAYING at this rabble of a Club?
Playing home games at Docklands in front of no supporters and racking up Wooden Spoon after Wooden Spoon.
No doubt Geary, Longer, Pierce, Newnes, Weller, Brown, Savage and a couple of other spuds will stay.
Hopefully those with talent are looking elsewhere.
Hence the reporting of those looking elsewhere now including Long along with Steven (and there are others)

Re: AFL Site Reports regarding the Saints
It can both be true that Geelong are chasing Jack and we’re saying he’s not going anywhere.
It can both be true that Essendon are chasing Long and we’re saying he’s not going anywhere.
It can also be true that clubs say someone is not for trade to help drive up their value.
What the media reports has no effect on the outcome, just hang out for the done deals and take the rest with a grain of salt.

Re: AFL Site Reports regarding the Saints
It's the same for every club at this time of year... eg. is Josh Kelly leaving, is Tom Lynch leaving, is Gary Ablett leaving, etc.

That’s right. The first to leave without being delisted or retiring in about 3 years if I remember correctly. Even after a slump year, player retention has been pretty good.

Who, according to one of his post-trade statements, was encouraged to look elsewhere by the club.
