Sorry.... who is Karl Amon? I apologise if it appears that Im being facetious... I’ve honestly never heard of Karl Amon. Perhaps it’s my advanced age?

Re: Karl Amon
Young bloke from Port. Think he's aboriginal. Been there around 5 years. 42 games. Quick mid. Ex Sandringham Dragon.

Re: Karl Amon
The fact I have never heard of him doesn't build a lot of confidence in him being a good get

I had never heard of Roberton or Bruce before we picked them up also.

Thank you. I guess it depends on what the kid(?) would cost....pick wise, for mine.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Tue 02 Oct 2018 3:00pm Young bloke from Port. Think he's aboriginal. Been there around 5 years. 42 games. Quick mid. Ex Sandringham Dragon.

Re: Karl Amon
Not much. Originally drafted as a late pick and not a complete regular at Port.
Neither were Membrey, Bruce or Roberton. They turned out alright.
Hawks interested too. That gives me more confidence.

Re: Karl Amon
Fair point although I had heard of Roberton but he turned out better than i expected until the obvious happened. Just worried we are going to be a dumping groundtedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Tue 02 Oct 2018 3:02pm I had never heard of Roberton or Bruce before we picked them up also.

Re: Karl Amon
We have no early picks so better to get someone already in the system with some proven ability than a pick 75 that never plays.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Tue 02 Oct 2018 3:38pmFair point although I had heard of Roberton but he turned out better than i expected until the obvious happened. Re: Karl Amon
you could easily mount an argument that 5 years and 42 games is a pick that hardly ever playsHitTheBoundary wrote: ↑Tue 02 Oct 2018 3:41pm

Re: Karl Amon
thats a big stretch but ok - woudl imagine it took him while to break into the 2000+ super side but once he hit 20 games never looked back???

Re: Karl Amon
Karl is an ex-Haileybury boy - I know one of his close relatives, who is Melbourne based, and she said he's been keen to get back to Melbourne for a couple of years at least. I jokingly said to her that I'd get the Saints on the case.....Quick outside mid, ticks the box for me as long as we don't have to give up too much.

Re: Karl Amon
From Port supporters:
"If Amon ever can understand that he won't be able to build a career just running in straight lines, avoiding contact & not putting any effort in to actually trying to tackle he might just end up half decent elsewhere. Might just be the reality check he needs."
"Saw the headline and had trouble guessing the player's name. It's Amon. Speedster is being a little bit generous."
"He doesn't hold much trade value. 3rd rounder sounds about right." "I'll drive him to VIC myself for a third rounder in return."
"I would have been surprised if a single team wanted him. Two teams going for him is shocking, have they not watched him play? Good news for us, might actually get a usable pick for him now."
"I think a swap of our future 4th round for the Saints future 3rd rounder for Amon is about as good as we'll get and we'll need to bank some points for next year anyway."
"I'm gonna assume this "Race" and "Bidding war" for Karl Amon will end up netting us a pick upgrade in the 4th round."
Certainly not highly valued by the Port supporters. In fact sounds like he is seen as pretty useless.

Re: Karl Amon
Yep. Astute recruitment again. Only cost a 3rd or 4th rounder. Early days yet.
Dan and Dean seem the only 100% certainties thus far.

Re: Karl Amon
I'll be disappointed if we lose Dunstan, we need to build the midfield depth whilst hanging onto the decent midfielder we have.stonecold wrote: ↑Tue 02 Oct 2018 8:22pmNothing, his manager stated today that Luke would be a Saint next year, he's words, not mine!!!!!
