Re: When Lonie met Buckley
He is out of contract now, isn't he?
But if he wants to get to Collingwood, they still have to deal. They won't get a pick until pick 18 or 19, so they need to give us something to get something. Their first pick will do.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Lonie would be worth a 3rd rounder at best.
if we are going to peel the potatoes, i hope there are a few others that go.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
If Lonie wants to leave for a better contract then maybe Carlton can make us an offer then. Or Collingwood can give us their first rounder, or perhaps one of their midfielders who have at least been developed properly.guitars4 wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 9:21pmThat won't happen but like your optimismsamuraisaint wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 7:05pm He is out of contract now, isn't he?

Has he actually been told to look for another club?

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
No player is playing well under richo. No player is being developed. If you loathe your boss you don't play for them.. Simple as that. Lonie would thrive at Collingwood. Why? Because players play for the jumper. Players love Buckley. Just like when the saints loved Grant Thomas. We don't play for the jumper. Players don't care. If you don't like coach, you don't play for jumper you play for yourself and pay packet if ratten was coach things would turn around from day one. Mark my words. Richo needs to go. Our list isn't that bad.

I think you would have read similar posts on the Pies threads last year and earlier about Buckley instead of Richo. Amazing how things change.Barneysaint wrote: ↑Sun 23 Sep 2018 10:46am No player is playing well under richo. No player is being developed. If you loathe your boss you don't play for them.. And all this from somebody not willing to acknowledge Jack's notable improvement in the last quarter of the season!takeaway wrote: ↑Sun 23 Sep 2018 10:57amI think you would have read similar posts on the Pies threads last year and earlier about Buckley instead of Richo. Re: When Lonie met Buckley
They’ll offer us a 3rd rounder at best.
He’s still a bit of an unknown but has enormous potential. If we let him go for a third rounder, I just feel like we’ll be the losers in the long run, yet again...
If he’s chasing a two year deal at least, I think his later part of this season has warranted it.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Lonie is too slow and weak to make it at his height. His solid numbers late in the year came from him being uncharacteristically effective in front of goal and also receiving a number of fortuitous free kicks inside 50. Awesome VFL player and if he was 10cm taller and 10kgs heavier he would have a solid AFL career but I don't see a slow midget who struggles to kick 35m making it.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
I think he’ll do okay. Good delivery from a star-studded midfield and being the 3rd or 4th wheel in an already quality forward line.
The whole Chris Dawes complex.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
So Buckley has a grand Final next weekend and is going to meet with a VFL player from another club?
Seems highly unlikely.

Is true.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I foresee Lonie leaving and turning into a good player...

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
Should be kept IMO. Still young, just turned 22, played 50 games....played well at the end of the year. Deserves another year or two. Be crap to trade him for a ho-hum pick and then watch him tear it up.

Re: When Lonie met Buckley
One more year max but I'd be happy with second round pick. That would mean Dan hannebery is a direct swap excluding salary. Ie we swap that pick to Sydney and lose Lonie. Win win win for all clubs
