I reckon the Saints are better off targeting a couple of players that have the potential to become A grade instead of going after 1 A grader. Just my opinion.

Gaff is FA he will cost us nothing except cap space

Potential A-graders are likely not to be FAs therefore would cost us draft picks which we don't have much of this year and if we want to have a dig at Kelly or Shiel next year then no use giving up next year's first rounder this year

Gaff was a product from the Oakleigh Chargers so is an Eastern Suburbs lad which might help but I can see Hawks dipping their finger in the Gaff honeypot which could screw our chances

Personally I think he will stay in WA given Eagles are in a Premiership window

think we can chalk another year gone without landing anyone. no point having a war chest if no one wants to come.
i still think our only hope is showing some promise next year and making kelly the biggest offer in history.
not landing one whilst we at least had the attraction of roo and joey here was a big opprtunity missed. we have no one inspiring to attract similar talent, and show no signs of contending for awhile.
