In two thrilling Sunday contests, Sandringham and North Melbourne both came from behind for last gasp victories.

IN A NUTSHELL: Sandringham conceded the first four goals of the game to trail by 22 points early in the second term, but worked their way back into the game by kicking nine of the last 14 goals of the match. The Zebras hit the front at the 17-minute mark of the final term through Johnathan Haidon and retained the lead in a thrilling final term.

KEY MOMENTS: After Geelong jumped out to a 14-point lead early in the final term, Sandringham stormed home with four in a row to claim back-to-back wins to start the season.

LEADING GOALKICKERS: Geelong – All singles / Sandringham – Wright 2, Bailey 2

FORMLINES: Geelong has been part of two thrillers to start the season, but were unable to kick the final two goals of this game to claim victory like they did in Round 1 versus Werribee. Sandringham are the second half specialists, trailing at half time in the first two games of the season, only to race home for wins.

I was there for the second half. Sorry, I didn't have a record so I couldn't identify some of our (St Kilda) players. Longer shouldn't trouble the selectors on his game. Weller was good and my, oh my, Josh Battle is quite a player. It was wetter and windier in the VFL game, yet Battle had no trouble plucking them all over the ground and kicked a beautiful set shot from outside 50. Armo was OK, but hardly set the world on fire. Does anyone know who wears No.68
for Sandy (one of ours)? He looked very good.

I think we should reserve a rookie spot for Beau Bailey. Kicked two today, but I first noticed him last year. He reminded me of a skinny little, rat faced fellow called Stephen Milne who played for Essendope in the reserves GF against us in 1999. Beau needs to build up his strength, but he has a bit of X factor like the tiprat. Gets to where the ball is and knows how to finish. A bit of what we need, ATM.
