Are you still angry ?
I am struggling to move on from the Good Friday debacle
I can’t recall ever feeling this angry for so long.
My gut feeling over the preseason was that we were going to struggle to improve. But the club was as vocal as I can remember in recent years about making finals this year. I certainly did not expect to go backwards.
Unless there is a drastic improvement we are going to finish bottom 4. How can you promise finals and then get demoralised by a team widely tipped to be a spoon contender?
Things have to change. Matt Finnis and Simon Lethlean you have both been conspicuously quiet. It’s time to stand up and make a difference. If we lose this week , the season is shot and the fallout from Good Friday will be felt for the next 20 weeks. It will set us back another 3 years. We will need a complete reset of the coaching panel and recruitment team to move forward and build hope again. Anything less, and we may as well start merger talks.

Still pretty filthy. The lack of motivation or purpose with the footy is what really annoys me. Can’t remember a team being soooo useless with the footy. They just didn’t give a f..k

I'm mid fifties born into a Saints family.
Supported all through the dark days of the 80's, but cannot recall a softer more pathetic weak as piss performance than what the team dished up on Friday.
The players, coaches and club should be embarrassed.

Likewise! Up by two kicks, 1:30 left on the clock, umpires trying to help us over the line, even the Port supporters were vacating the building and we drop it. One of the worse losses you'll ever witness.Beno88 wrote:I'm still not over the Port game last year.
As for the Good Friday disaster, not as gutted as I was on Friday, but still bloody pissed off. The club has been declared a lot in their "mission statement" over the last five seasons - smart recruiting, building a war chest of cap space, becoming a destination club, hitting free agency when the time is right, premiership by 2020...we've been sold a lemon.
Deeply in debt, almost no elite talent, hand cuffed to a seemingly clueless coach, no star players wanting to play for us, getting flogged by a spoon favourite who we're supposed to be years ahead of in terms of a rebuild is just the icing on the cake.
Baring a spectacular reversal of fortune over the next two or three seasons, a merger or relocation may be our only option.

Re: Are you still angry ?
Pretty angry at the CEO.
More about virtue signalling rather than looking at on field performance.
Just nothing. Everyone in admin sat on their hands last year when not a single FA came to the saints. Not even a decent trade.
Kind of like people looking glazed as a plane's about to crash land.

Re: Are you still angry ?
Yes
No other team would have lost to Port
We did because our players were not switched on for a whole game
The Melb game giving up 2 goals in time on periods by dumb football
Not thinking again
The Jlt games our skills were what we have seen in season proper
In all these 4 games we have run out mentally ilprepared for AFL standard footy.
After 51years I don't cry over the Club anymore but I still bleed for it they have not drained that, yet.

Re: Are you still angry ?
many have been in denial, this has been shattered last week and most are now in anger. It's bargaining time. How can we make it better? If we can't get ready for depression!

Re: Are you still angry ?
Not sure if I'm more angry or embarrassed to be honest.
My old boy spent a very large portion of his time at Morrabbin and he said that performance bought back some rather unnerving memories.
I was only a kid at the time so I can't really remember... But I'm sure quite a few on here might get it

Re: Are you still angry ?
Yeah I am.
What is more, I am really unhappy with the lack of noise coming out of the club.
So far I have seen one puff piece quoting the captain, and some other horseapples about cancelling the weekend off...
That is all.

Re: Are you still angry ?
I expected us to finish no higher than 13th. So I surprise that we were average in round one . However against north it felt like 1985 again. What's staggering is the poor ball movement. Sadly that comes down to coaching. You can talk about pressure all you like, but if you don't have a decent strategy to get players in free space, the pressure is pointless. Game plan looksnon existant, and we have only a couple of players wh take the game on

I'm not over the fade out in the '71 Grand Final, or not doing something about Jarman in '97.Beno88 wrote:I'm still not over the Port game last year.

I’ve given up being angry about this club
I’ve almost given Up caring to be honest. It is embarrassing to be a supporter
Truly worried about our future and think that tassie may be our only saviour from total extinction

Re: Are you still angry ?
Yes!
For 71,97,2009,2010 and ALL the years we showed potential and got to finals ... but now because EVEN IN THE MID-EIGHTIES and 90s WE HAD PLAYERS WHO OBVIOUSLY CARED, they tried and they fought no matter what! I do not believe these guys do not have the skills required.
They need to look inside themselves for the motivation they need.
If any other game got me as angry it would be that Hawthorn, capitulation under Tim Watson - and that game ended one era and started another. But there was some real pain between.

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Re: Are you still angry ?
More resigned to the fact this was coming
I don’t ever believe club spin it’s rubbish
We need to go down this year - once again many won’t like that but it’s our only hope in what’s supposed to be a super draft
Trade like mad, offer up some names if we have to and pray like mad the new stadium deal at least enables us not to go out backwards financially
We will not go forward with any real purpose until this club accepts this list (and coach) needs to be turned over, that we are harbouring to many cloggers and until we get a new core of young guns in the Roo, Dal, Goddard, Montagna, Milne mould. Until we get that our reasons for being excited are fools gold as we simply lack to much class to be a serious challenger and then when that excitement builds ....FAs become a lot easier
Face facts we’ve stuffed this rebuild

Actually it was just before TQT. We were up by 28 and they clawed one back to give them a chance. What a shocking sliding door 40 minute period that was.saynta wrote:perfectionist wrote:Everything since three quarter time in the 1971 GF has been a bad dream.

Re: Are you still angry ?
Did an anger management exercise, pick a fantasy team to play the one that ran out Friday - suspending belief that a player can't be n 2 places at once - which one wins*. I found the absurdity more therapeutic than listening to AR ask himself rhetorical questions Hamlet would have been proud of:
T2 Fwd Gresham Battle Membrey
T1 FB Geary Brown Roberton
T2 HF Billings Paddy Mc Acres
T1 HB Savage Carlisle Webster
T2 Centres Clark Dunstan McKenzie
T1 Centres Newnes Armo Sinclair
T2 HB Webster Carlisle White
T1 HF Long Paddy Mc Billings
T2 FB Geary Logan Roberton
T1 FF Gresham Bruce Membrey
Ruck:
T2 Hickey T1 Longer
T1/T2 Ross Ross
T1/T2 Steven Steven
Int.
T2 Marshall T1 Acres
T2 Coffield T1 Stevens
T2 Gilbert T1 Steele
T2 Langlands – T1 Clark
Emg. Smith, Warner
* team 2 wins because they tried hard and Hickey wore a box.

Re: Are you still angry ?
The truth of the matter of the 71 GF is that it was the dawning of the greatest player of all time - the 19th man, a guy who took out the best on ground Stuart Trott, knocked him cold, when he came on after half time and dominated - his name is Leigh Matthews. The rest is history!George27 wrote:Actually it was just before TQT. We were up by 28 and they clawed one back to give them a chance.
