Richo looks to get aggresive at 2017 trade table
http://m.saints.com.au/news/2017-08-27/ ... -strategy-
Good news. The intention is there from Day 1 which starts today.
Stay positive fans. We aren't far off it. Lets hope the club has some good stuff in the works already.

Re: Richo looks to get aggresive at 2017 trade table
You will see some players put up for trade that's what I read out of this statement as well as possibly trading our two picks.
Who has currency is the big question.
If Armitage played more I would say he would be one.
It's always players you don't want to lose but it's a balance thing.
Can you get a Chris Judd without losing a Kennedy?!
Let's see but we are devoid of star quality and class and we need to fix this asap.

Richo being aggressive.? Ha.
The man's a weird bugger.
A lot of selections are puzzling.
Mav. Big ??? there.
Bringing in Long twice.
Not giving White a decent go.
Not letting Battle have another game.
Don't believe his spin.
He's a weird cat.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Might be looking at some quality trades from the East Burwoods

We were aggressive when he showed the door to McEvoy, Lynch, Dal Santo, Goddard and Stanley.
Not sure where that's got us.

Pelchen said McEvoy, BJ and Nick dal had to go in order to improve the list.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:We were aggressive when he showed the door to McEvoy, Lynch, Dal Santo, Goddard and Stanley.

We have to turn over the list each year to find the right dynamic

I hope we get a key defender so Carlisle can play full forward. He'd be an absolute gun and kick 60 goals for the season!

I don't get your hate for Long. He's a first year player, and there is no expectation that he would or needs to set the world on fire right away.MickThomas wrote:Richo being aggressive.? Ha.

Re: Richo looks to get aggresive at 2017 trade table
If we really want to be aggressive, we'd be listening to serious offers for the following players...
Jack Steven
Jack Newnes
Jimmy Webster
Josh Bruce
Tom Hickey
I'd prefer them all to remain at St Kilda but if the right offer is there, they can all be replaced.
We have very few other players with trade currency that would be worth letting go.
Players like Weller, Savage and Lonie could be used as trade bait, but in reality their value is very low.

Negative nancy central in here sometimes.
Might as well give up on 2018 according to some already. Another season is over. Get over it. Time to relaunch into another one the best you can.

Actions speak louder than words.
They have spouted the same old crap over the past few years.

R
Alan Richardson just released an amending statement, apologising for his unnecessarily aggressive statement relating to the trade period. The statement should have said we will NOT be taking an aggressive approach to the trade period. We will remain true to our conservative strategies. We will trade this year's first round picks to other clubs for their future picks. We will seek to trade in unlisted FAs and use late picks to secure other club's discards.
The future picks strategy is a long term one, which will deliver us a flag by 2030. This has been amended from 2020 due to unforeseen circumstances, mainly that other teams have gone past us while we are stagnating comfortably in 11 th place. Another ten years of middle to low finishes wil see us bank another 20 picks, which we aim to use all at once at the 2028 draft, which is already touted as the best of all time. Full of gun key forwards, elite midfielders and miserly defenders. Success should come in the following two seasons. If it doesn't, we'll just renew everyone's contracts for long terms to ensure our new key criteria for success maintained. Stability. Nothing more stable than finishing between 9th and 11th every year. It's our comfort zone. One day, the club intends to employ risk to fast track its development, but that day is part of a very long term strategy, confirmed the President, CEO and coach in their daily groupthink indoctrination session.

Re: Richo looks to get aggresive at 2017 trade table
While I've been away I've had plenty of time to think about where the club is heading. It's also given me a chance to watch many replays, study our game plan as well as look over the statistics and do some deep analysis in key areas where we are underperforming. I've also had a look at our playing list, the football department and our coaching staff including assistant and development coaches etc; and compared our coaching personnel and performance to the leading clubs in the AFL, taking into account the clubs publicly stated strategic objectives and goals. I've basically conducted an entire diagnostic and assessment by pulling apart the club from top down. The conclusion I have made, and I hate to admit it is this: we're basically f*cked.

Thanks for the heads up dragit. It doesn't sound like anyone I know. He sounds fascinating. I look forward to reading his really well informed opinions and highly interesting anecdotes.

Stuff 'aggressive' at the trade table.
We need to be SMART!
Be agressive on the field and smart off it.
Instead we are soft on field and aggressive off field.
I'm starting to think AR is a moron.

It seems some are implying Richo is no good.
Okay geniuses, if we let him go, who the heck do we get to replace him?
Imagine if Richmond lost patience with Hardwick. They most likely wouldn't be in the top four right now and probably enduring another rebuild.
My thoughts exactly. The lad has enormous potential. Has only turned 20 years old last week.

Yeah imagine.Sainternist wrote:Imagine if Richmond lost patience with Hardwick.
Why are people people talking up Richmond/Hardwick like a success story?
8 seasons, 179 games, 50% W/L - 0 finals won.
They are just as likely to go out in straight sets after arsing in 3rd spot, then finish 9th again next year.
