Archie Fraser, ex St Kilda CEO
Can anyone tell me their thoughts on Archie's time with the Saints? Was he a good money man, or good 'corporate' man? He went to FFA after the Saints, then disappeared off the face of the earth.
Did he come to Australia from Scotland, specifically for the Saints job?

USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Hired as a toe-cutter to exit GT.
Sold us Frankston and delivered us Seaford.

His arrogant negotiating style was the reason we left Moorabbin.

Apparently was employed because of his ability to work with all staff, especially women.

Cost us a flag.
Us having to spend 20 hours a week in a car travelling to Seaford while the Pies had to walk five minutes to Lexus cost us dearly in 2010 imo.
I think he came from some s*** Scottish soccer team?
Not sure how he ended up in Melbourne.
Was he on the run?
Did he come via Perth? Lots of Scots over there.

We hadn't moved to Seaford in 2010; we were still based at Moorabbin.Con Gorozidis wrote:Cost us a flag.

Re: Archie Fraser, ex St Kilda CEO
Why open this can of worms. The truth is no one wants to accept the truth, it easier to blame someone for when things go pear shaped and in the case it was AF. Everyone should know that there was no way the local council were ever going to give us the license we wanted at the time for pokies. They did not want us there and made life very difficult for us to the point we had to look at relocating. We looked at what was available at that time, not a lot was ideal and it was decided to go to Frankson. A deal was struck but then, well it burnt' down. AF's fault no doubt. Only option left (in our budget and what we could get approved) was Seaford. Lots of innuendo in the media didn't help and only made supporters want to blame AF.
The reason he came to Australia was because he played professional Football for Greenock Morton before moving to Australia in 1980 to play in Brisbane.
He has quite an impressive CV if you take the time to google him.

there's 2 vacancies at AFL House...
Will Archie put his hand up?
Good chance for the Scotsman to prove that he has lost his misogyny
and is now able to work with women
or maybe not

Councillors come and go. There was no need to be spooked by one short term Councillor. What nonsense.St Lenny wrote:Why open this can of worms. Personally I'd rather us stay at Seaford, but it should of been planned more like Hawthorns plans, with multiple ovals, facilities, parking etc.
I think Seaford is a good position (way way wayyy easier to get to than Moorabbin and growth is out east) but the problem is that its situated around houses with limited space. It needed to be more on its own, like your entering a private golf course, but for our club, not some sort of local footy park oval setup surrounded by housing.
If Hawthorns plans go through, we are well and truly behind the 8 ball with no space to grow.

Re: Archie Fraser, ex St Kilda CEO
I know for a fact Archie Fraser got a Bruce Mathieson designed Pokies venue to the Kingston council and they threw it out.
Too commercial and not a fan of Mathieson Pokies venues.
They were classic left wing community based council people who had no time for such venues.
Fraser then decided to go to Seaford and that's the crux of it.
