Membrey replacement ?

Post: # 1684312Post Rocket »

Paddy - not sure if 100%, no Footy for 2 weeks, opportunity may give him the opening he needs?
Acres - plays as 3rd tall who gets a run through midfield
Battle - don't think he has done enough?
Hickey - Forward option ? Hard match up in air
Marshall - been swung down back at wrong time

It's Acres for mine, with Gilbert spending more time up forward. And Hickey to come in for Longer if he isn't fit.

If Newnes is out, I'm not sure. Maybe Weller. Dunstan was reported, wasn't he?

Agree re Acres.

What's wrong with Newnes? He's been great these last 6 weeks. We can ill afford to lose him

8cres

Needs to be 8cres - has shown a bit up front - and gives us the scope to let him range a bit.

Acres is 190cm taller than a Membrey although we know Membrey is a better mark but I would think about he going as the third tall and he can rotate in the mid field...

Has to be Acres.
25 disposals in a half and take off the field with 6 day break.

Ideally Paddy as a like for like, but I doubt we'll see that as he hasn't played a full game in a month.

I expect the club will take the usual "cotton wool" approach.

So Acres. Actually I'd bring Acres in regardless, whether or not they go for Paddy.

How has Acres been travelling since getting dropped to Sandy?

It's going to be either Acres or Paddy. The other three aren't viable options.

It's Acres for me. He was withdrawn at half time at Sandy, which points to his definite inclusion.

His kicking skills worry me - not a patch on Membrey.

Though that may also be to replace Newnes, as he too is rumoured to be injured. As is Longer.

Don't want to start getting injuries and suspensions at this crucial time of the year. At least others may get an opportunity now.

Looks like it will be Acres. Apparently Paddy will be rested for at least another week.

Ummmm ....
Acres 8/3 in 2017 playing as a mid
Membrey 26/12 in 2017 playing as a forward

Given our success in front of the sticks this year - I would be screaming that Acres is one of our better kicks at goal

And was reported on CH7 too that Paddy will not play any football this weekend as the Saints will be cautious with him.

The impediment( for Freeman) will be bursting into the deep St Kilda midfield, which played Blake Acres and Luke Dunstan in the VFL last weekend.

One of that pair will hope to replace Tim Membrey ahead of Friday night’s clash with fellow finals contender Essendon.

Membrey will serve two week’s suspension with Billy Longer still hopeful of recovering from hamstring tightness.

Longer pulled up sore last week, with Tom Hickey withdrawn from Sunday’s VFL game as a precaution.

The Saints will make a decision on Wednesday on whether to play Patrick McCartin in the VFL after concussion or rest him for another week.

St Kilda could either bring in one of Acres or Dunstan or blood a first-year player like medium-sized forward Josh Battle, who kicked two goals last weekend.

Really Weller is the probable replacement but I hope not as he needs to show something at the lower level (as 8cres did) before coming back in.

Or swing Savage forward and bring in Rice?

Richo was pretty adamant in his post game presser that Weller would need to come back through the VFL. He conceded Weller's body isn't right, so he might not play anywhere this weekend anyway.

Was never going to be Paddy in a blue fit...you don't drop a guy on form and then bring him back half a game and a concussion later! Now he's being reported as out indefinitely.

Acres would be an obvious inclusion, but will be interesting to see what some restructuring could conjure...although who'd mess with a winning formula? Marshall or Battle at a stretch?

Time for Josh Battle to have a crack at the big league. Plays a similar role to Memory at Sandy.

About time we gave another kid a debut game, so it's Josh Battle for me.

He came to us as a forward so this would be a perfect game for him to show us what he's got to offer.

Agree with the above comments - I think Battle is a pure forward, and should be given an opportunity.

Really hope Battle or Marshall get an opportunity. But I'd also like Acers to be in the team, but dont think he's a natural forward, he's built to play in the guts.

Fingers crossed!!

Debateable who should get dropped for 2 of these 3.

Is Newnes fit?
