Tim Membery
Hoping he only gets a week for that (slightly) late knock.
Will possibly get 2 though.
Was a great target tonight, strong marking, great kicking.
Will be missed.
Cmon Paddy over to you, back yourself.

Membrey was already in the air and was just protecting himself. 0 weeks.

He was certainly committed to go for the ball but it dropped short. A victim of circumstances.Jacks Back wrote:Membrey was already in the air and was just protecting himself. 0 weeks.

Re: Tim Membery
Certainly wasn't malicious, but it was late and it was a forearm and it did knock him out. Obviously the arm was out to protect himself, but it made contact with the worst part of Grimes' body - his head.
Really disappointing as he was the key player up there tonight. Interesting how we'll rejig things. Certainly can't expect Paddy to come in and play. Not sure what they'll do.

Re: Tim Membery
Based on Houli can't be more than 4 weeks.
I am hoping it is 2 weeks with an early plea.
I doubt that they will find it deliberate, expect reckless.
He launched airborne too late to spoil and so has braced for impact but his elbow/ forearm made contact to the head.

We already have enough evidence to know that bringing in Paddy any time to the end of this season will be just bringing in a non contributing passenger.

Re: Tim Membery
I don't think he'll get any weeks but, if he does, then maybe Josh Battle comes in as the third tall/medium type player. Big game tomorrow for him at Sandy.

5 day break for the kid. May only play him a half if they are looking at playing him.Jacks Back wrote:I don't think he'll get any weeks but, if he does, then maybe Josh Battle comes in as the third tall/medium type player. Big game tomorrow for him at Sandy.

Re: Tim Membery
Yeah in normal time it doesn't look too bad. Just a guy in the air who arrived late trying to protect himself. Everything looks bad in slow motion and he caught him flush on the head. Grimes played out the last few minutes of the half and I was hopeful he'd be ok and nothing further would come of it. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and he looked like Jeff Horne last Sunday sitting on the benchGeorge27 wrote:At the game I thought it was fine, but watching the replay now I see the commentators were not thrilled once they saw the replay.. in slow motion.

Re: Tim Membery
I say it every week, but Tim Membrey judges the ball in flight as good as anyone in the comp. He always has his eye on the ball and positions his body to advantage. When he has to jump at the ball, he always gets it at the top of his leap. Perfect timing. He never runs himself under the ball or doesn't get there in time.
Great that he had his kicking boots on tonight. He's a weapon when he's kicking's on.
In two of the last eight quarters (3rd this week, 4th vs freo) he has been the most dominant, commanding player on the park, more or less.

Sloppy by him, but no bad intent. Will cop 3 weeks down to 2. Will do his time and come back

I'm expecting 1 to 2 weeks. He'd be very stiff to cop more than 2.

Re: Tim Membery
2 or 3 weeks after the downgrade.
This is gong to stuff us up a bit.
The options are Paddy or Josh Battle.
Maybe Carlisle forward if need be?

Th club should be pencilling in someone to replace Membrey right now.Jacks Back wrote:I don't think he'll get any weeks but, if he does, then maybe Josh Battle comes in as the third tall/medium type player. Big game tomorrow for him at Sandy.
If it is to be Battle or whoever they should give him a short day at Sandringham.
He will only have until Friday night for recovery - a 5 day break

Grimes had taken the mark and was on the way back down to earth.
The ball disappeared leaving Membery with nothing to punch.
Too late Membrey did not punch but that meant his forearm made contact to the head.
He would have been better to take an airy punch above Grimes head.
Easy to do in slow motion, nearly impossible to do in real time.
