We are in the 8.
I think we will finish 7th, 8th or 9th. 10th at absolute worst.

Beating Freo over there will be tough.
I think they will be able to shut us down.

12 will get you there this year. Perhaps even 11 with a decent percentage.Milne wrote:Need to win 13 to guarantee finals but feel like we will fall just short unless consistency improve. Will need a scalp or two

Re: How many more can we win this season?
If we win 5 of our last 9 we'll probably play finals. If we don't we're undeserving anyway.
A bit of perspective here, does anyone think we can win the Premiership? If not, then why is it so important that we play finals? The Premiership is there for the taking for GWS, the only thing stopping them is more injuries or them choking. Geelong could pinch it off them because they have the know how of about 6 Premiership players. Sydney I fancy are coming from too far back. Adelaide are no chance.
Sure, finals games would be a good experience for the players that haven't played finals footy, however not so much if you're polaxed. Isn't our priority the building of a Premiership list? In our quest to play finals we basically leave Paddy, DMac, Rice, White, Hickey and Steele or Dunstan playing for Sandy. I reckon we have gotten carried away with impatience and expectations based on 12 wins last year. 12 wins with 4 automatic wins against Carlton & Essendon.
Don't get me wrong I'd like us to make the finals and would be happy, however our List Management should be first priority.

Play it one week at a time. I don't see any point in reading tea leaves. A team's fortunes fluctuate on a weekly basis.
All I'm going to be thinking about is our next game against the Dockers in Perth at this stage.
Go Saints!

From my point of view the flag odds are:
GWS 65%
Crows 15%
Demons 5%
Swans 5%
Port 5%
Cats 5%
Everyone else = 0%.

Re: How many more can we win this season?
Well f*** me dead.
We haven't played finals since 2011 and some on here aren't excited with the prospect of us playing a final - even if we got flogged.
I reckon there may be a tear in my eye come the day we next play our first final in at least 6 years and the anthem is played.

Making the finals would be a significant achievement this year. We're right in the hunt so why capitulate our hopes just yet?

Getting matches into young players is good for their development. The Fireman wrote:making the finals ? wont be pretty if we do...I'm torn.
Getting finals into players is good for their development too. Let them feel the pressure, the weight of expectation and the disappointment of losing or the thrill of winning!

Re: How many more can we win this season?
+1, it's not even about our performance, it's about giving the team the taste of the pressure and atmosphere of finals footy. They'll need it if we're ever going to win the big one as we're not going to go from out of the 8 one year to grand final the next.casey scorp wrote:Getting matches into young players is good for their development. The Fireman wrote:making the finals ? wont be pretty if we do...I'm torn.

I'm with you Bob - Tigers and Bombres extremely gettable at Etihad. We'll win one of those.saintbob wrote:mohannair wrote:Looking at the current form of every team, here is my prediction for us for the rest of the year.

The rest of Mohannair's predictions I agree with though. Still think we are most likely to win 12, and finish ninth or maybe tenth on percentage.

Re: How many more can we win this season?
The next five - Freo away, Tigers, Essendon, Swans away, Port away - are going to be tough.
Not convinced that we are good enough, but if we do make it, based on that draw, we can win it.
