Will Richo be targeted???

Post: # 1650825Post supersaints »

I'm wondering if Buckley gets the chop should the Pies not improve ( likely) Will Eddie throw the kitchen sink at Richo?

Richo has proven himself to be a very good and continually improving coach imo. Eddie would probably like to have one of his ex players coach the Pies , don't think he would try an untried coach. Of course he could offer someone like Paul Roos half a trillion.

I think AR has the character to stick fat with the Saints and would like to take them all the way. But Eddies fat wallet and head will likely pop up somewhere, he will try to poach someone.

I was at a function the other night where he spoke & he certainly gave me the impression that he's in it for the long haul.

Probably won't happen until he proves himself in finals.

These are the type of issues that the board should be thinking about.

Although I wouldn't want anyone else to coach us other than Richo right now, I reckon there is a few ahead of him for the 'Pies to chase - knowing a contract means nothing to Fat Eddie.

Clarkson & Lyon would appease the fans, similar to appointing Malthouse to replace another favorite son in Tony Shaw.

And Luke Beveridge has got incredible results in a short amount of time, he's the guy every club would want in their setup.

I'll bet they have already had the conversation. I hope Richo stays for the long run.

I know someone who is mates with Richo, is a Pies fan and can't stand Buckley as their coach.
This person keeps hinting to Richo that he should ditch us and come "back home" to the Pies, but Richo keeps telling him there is no way he'd go back to "the rabble" at Collingwood. Basically suggesting that while Eddie is there, he won't be.
He's very happy at the Saints and doesn't want to go anywhere (until maybe we've won 3-5 flags  )

GO SAINTS!!!!

Maybe the Pies could go after Lyon and just keep losing grand finals

I think Nathan Buckley is doing an outstanding job and Collingwood should re-sign him with a five year extension on his existing contract. He has the filth right on track for another premiership. The list he inherited was a young, recent premiership and grand final team. In just a few years he has been able to turn it into a collection of champions, brimming with elite talent. He should have the job for life. Please keep telling Eddie what a great appointment and asset Bucks is. If anyone points out the players hate him, the group is fractured and heading towards the bottom, not the top, they're just envious of the greatest sporting club in the country, no the whole world! Two premierships in 58 years proves how great they are. Go Bucks! Go Ed!

Well expressed WW, i hope they keep Nathan, at least until Eddie is up for re-election.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I reckon they'll go for Lyon, Eddie would think he has the list to succeed, Ross does better with a good list but I think may not
be able/patient enough to build one.

I can see Eddie sliding a cheque across to Paul Roos over a coffee for $1 million and asking him if he'd like that as an annual salary to coach the Filth. If he turns it down then yes I think Richo will be one of the names that will be in the mix

When was the last time a coach left a club in the middle of a contract?
I can't remember it happening?
And before anyone says Lyon he was uncontracted when he left us. There may have been some discussion over an option but not sue we actually ever offered him anything.
Wouldn't even be considered imo.
Eddie might look at a Scott brother though? Or Longmire?
Otherwise I reckon Eddie will be looking to throw big coin at Paul Roos....

Edit: sorry Zed. Read your post after mine. You beat me to it.... Thinking similar things.

Didn't Malthouse leave West Coast mid contract to return to Victoria for Family reasons? Then magically appear as the Collingwood coach not long after.

I think he would have been the last to switch clubs mid contract.

While Richo looks to be doing a good job and is building, he currently has the lowest Win/Loss ratio of all current coaches @33%… I think we are pretty safe until he starts winning finals and getting us into prelims.

That was the strong rumor last year.

By bye Bucks.

Lyon, being a human skidmark, would be an excellent fit at Collingwood.

IF Buckley isn't the coach in 2018, Paul Roos will be.

Yes, I have heard the same, from many sources.

I thought Lyon had a year to go on his contract and we were negotiating in good faith for an extension when he weaselled out via a loophole that was in the existing contract because of poor drafting? Happily letting his management have meetings with us while he was holding clandestine meetings with Freo in person?

I assume Roosey will say he's now done with coaching for good and wifey wants them to move to the USA.

Fat Eddie will mortgage his house and other things and poor Roosey's wife will be the victim of footy's biggest non-playing prostitute in the history of the game. Again!

Give Bucks this year, then appoint Roos for three years. That should keep the filth out of the finals for the next four years. Has anyone pointed out Roos didn't manage to get Melbourne anywhere near the finals? Another "yesterday's man" appointment. Go for it pies! If it means they lay off AR, then I'm all for it.
