Nearest the Pin for the draft
Ok experts. It's that time again. Last year there was a coconut on offer for those who got our first pick right. I'm willing to offer three if you get all three right this year. That's a godfather offer if ever I've heard one!* So I'd like you to nominate your picks for 23, 36 and 61. Please don't nominate who you'd like to think we'll get, but who we will actually get, giving consideration to the fact that our earliest preferences will probably be gone by 23. Still, a few of us got Gresham last year when he wasn't expected to last to our first pick. So hop to it. Show the rest how good your knowledge of the draft is. Mine are;
23 - Oliver Florent (wishful, but he might just do a Gresh)
36 - Cedrick Cox
61 - Mitchell McCarthy

#23 - We couldn't believe he was still available for us to pick!
#36 - We rated him a #20-25 pick so are delighted that for whatever reason he was still available when our pick came around.
#61 - A bargain in this year's draft.

Re: Nearest the Pin for the draft
Beware of the ones that "slip/slide" - we may think we know better, that others let a bargain get away - but it could also indicate we've over-rated someone, or that it's a player that doesn't fit in with the way the modern game is evolving or has evolved, and that we're therefore behind the 8 ball in this regard.
Notwithstanding this, I expect that we will "nail" all our picks - so I'm with Mr Magic.
Big sliders...
23. Mcgluggage
36 Ainsworth
61 Battle or Bolton

Re: Nearest the Pin for the draft
I really have no idea (unusual for me ).
Pick 23 - I'll go Salt n Pepper Powell just cos I've heard him falling to us in a couple of phantom drafts. Heard he's got a bit of speed and is physical which would fit into Richo's pressure game style. We still need coal face ball winners to support Armo and Dunstan as finals footy is about contested possession and we haven't been great there.
Pick 36 Jack Maibaum - young full back as developing cover for Carlisle and Goddard who have both had injury concerns.
Pick 61 - Pat Kerr - a young key forward as back up for Paddy who's been getting paddy-whacked a bit too often for comfort

Re: Nearest the Pin for the draft
Not bad, Bluthy. SPP would be good compo for missing out on Florent. Maibaum is an interesting one. Not widely mentioned but is certainly rated by some. Somehow though, I think they feel the need , the need for speed! KPP in next year's supposed bumper crop of talls. Would be happy with your three. You're the Clubhouse leàder ATM.Bluthy wrote:I really have no idea (unusual for me ).

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Nearest the Pin for the draft
For what it's worth:
#23. Jordan Ridley (if not there, Elliot Himmelberg or Josh Rotham)
#36. Kobe Mutch (a ball-winning machine and great kick off both feet! Also really like Bailey Morrish and Josh Begley)
#60. Mitch McCarthy (although I think they're hoping he lasts to our rookie pick. Tom Williamson and Josh Williams are two others I would be happy with here)
Rookie: Nathan Mullenger-McHugh (a roughie, who would be a project player with a big upside....and a great name!!)

I assume on our board we had Long at around 25 and Battle at around 28?

This is good to here Jaxons. I think if we took Battle and Long in the other order everyone would be happy. And as we have been led to believe the Dogs were going to grab Long before our second pick

ok great... we would not have been surprised to get Long.. his development will be a bit oif a test of our recruitment team who clearly rated him higher than most clubs..
not that they should be judged on single selections
I doubt we thought Battle would slide, with KPFs often reached for... so a good result
