Re: Ben McGlynn New Assistant Coach
Our club gives him his first leg up into the AFL coaching ranks, he brings with him knowledge from two moderately successful clubs in recent times Sydney and Hawthorn.Jacks Back wrote:Was this the BIG news??stonecold wrote:Junior wrote:Ben McGlynn has joined our coaching ranks.

Is he coming in as an additional coach or replacing an existing coach? I can never keep up with the merry go round of coaching roles.

Always good to get new people into the club particularly someone coming from two successful environments.

He might be a little bit rusty on his Hawthorn IP - but we have traded in IP from this years top 4 sides in the last week - that's gotta be good I would thinkSaintPav wrote:Always good to get new people into the club particularly someone coming from two successful environments.

I just hope he doesn't try giving the team acting lessons. His flopping for free kicks was woeful.

Re: Ben McGlynn New Assistant Coach
So we've got intel from
Bulldogs - Stevens
Sydney - McGlynn
Hawthorn - Savage/McGlynn
Collingwood - Brown
Geelong excluded that's every team that has won a premiership in the last decade. Wouldn't mind signing Bartel in a similar role.

Re: Ben McGlynn New Assistant Coach
I can give you the intel re Geelong. Their gameplay is
Hope Dangerfield, Selwood and Hawkins can have blinders
McGlynn should be able to help our abundance of small forwards/ rolling mids so it seems a smart move

Why McGlynn? Very similar type to Schneids, butI dont remember him getting offered a coaching role.
I would have preferred to pick up X-Man as a coach. He has won a premiership as a coach in the top end. And I believe Richmond are interested in X-Man.

Maybe Schnedider did not want to be a coach. McGlynn does.

Has Ben McGlynn replaced anyone or is he an addition to the coaching panel? What is his actual role going to be?
