Billy Hartung
Hi Guys,
Just heard that young William is not happy at Hawthorn.
Apparently he will be telling the Hawks.
Playing reasonably well and in/out of the side.
If anyone knows someone at the club, maybe let them know ?
I would take him for sure if he was happy to cross to us.
My source is 110% accurate.

Re: Billy Hartung
I definitely don't know anything about if he is happy or not at the Hawks. However, I was thinking along the same lines Saint58. Gee Hartung is unlucky to be at the Hawks when they are so strong and they appear to have an abundance of players with his skills and can play his role. He must be getting a little frustrated wondering when he can cement a permanent place in their top 22. I'm sure there might be the temptation to ask his manager to look if other clubs are interested in him.Saint 58 wrote:Hi Guys,

Re: Billy Hartung
Well he's definitely telling the club that he's not happy.
I would think they will try to convince him to stay.

Hartung is full of it!
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

If Hartung wants to leave his manager would be shopping him around to all the suitable AFL teams. And indeed if Hartung's manager is any good he would do this before telling the Hawks just in case there is minimal interest in acquiring his services.

Incorrect
We rated Acres higher
Billy was very much on our radar and right in the mix as our second round selection

Re: Billy Hartung
Send pick ten to the hawks for hartung and pick 16. Send pick 16 to gws for steele and gws pick 35.
Send longer somewhere for a pick in the twenties.
So we get steele and hartung. Then we hit the draft for three kids with a pick in the 20s 30s and 40s.
No need to use any later picks. Just package them up and sell them off.

Re: Billy Hartung
Reading between the lines here Saint58 knows hartung personally and knows he wants more time as a midfielder and is not happy with the direction of hawthorn in 2017 which is stick with the old blokes and bring in another small midfielder that plays his position - Mitchell.
Hartung could definitely play as a midfield rotation and would be an asset to our team. If he want's to come to the saints....does he saint 58?....then we should try to get him...he can play but its just wat do we need to give up.
Just love hearing the 'professional' 'amazing culture' hawks are having player issues.....its about time they came back to the pack

Re: Billy Hartung
Hartung could fetch up to $450k per season on a 4 year deal at Tigerland.

He said he's not happy about being in/out of the team, he wants to leave and wants a change.
I didn't ask where he wanted to go but if a destination is mentioned I'll post it.

Incorrect.
Port Adelaide has some extra testing done in the psyc area and found he was unsuitable for them.
That was on top of other poor testing results.
Saints were very keen on him and then Richo was appointed and used his knowledge from the Port Adelaide process to over rule.
Stay away from Billy.

Re: Billy Hartung
And your qualifications, SuperDuper, to say that are? I take it you have a considerable amount of knowledge and experience in developing, analysing and researching personality tests. Which tests are "modern mythology"? Not all psychological tests relate to personality, which I presume you are referring to. What about psychological testing that relates to "hard" scientific processes and empirical evidence such as motor skills, comprehension, attentional processes, reaction times etc.? Are they all rubbish as well. What of the body of research and results going back 100 years, showing the scientifically proven validity of psychological testing? There's quite a few scientists out there who would be willing to educate you on the matter. Perhaps you should take a few tests yourself. I did Psych. testing for the saints and the AFL for 14 years. I even developed a specific test for JB to use in his assessment of potential recruit. We introduced testing at the 1997 draft camp. Do you really think if these tests were meaningless, the clubs would spend many hours and vast amounts of resources on them. Would they trust the results if they weren't proven to be correct, historically? There have been plenty of examples where we've predicted problems in the behaviour in a potential recruit, which have over time been shown to be accurate. It also works in reverse. Leaders and "solid citizens" have also been identified. Give Bevo and trout a call. I'm sure they'll be interested in your views and they might educate you. They might also put you on the payroll, given your deep and insightful analysis of the subject. I acknowledge that some personality tests are no more valid than horoscopes, but the ones our club use have been validated through the most rigorous scientific processes.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Billy Hartung
Bull. Here is a perfect example of a test coming true. The kid is immature and selfish. As shown by his choices. He is walking out of a very successful club to go to a basket case. With no hope of the ultimate prize. I can predict the future. 5 years after he retires he will be broke and whining that the AFL did not do enough for him and other past players.SuperDuper wrote:we did rate Acres higher... we just thought he would be taken by one of the WA teams.manoffewwords wrote:BigMart wrote:Incorrect
