Got a soft spot for the dogs. We were their Corporate sponsor for a few years and Doug Hawkins worked for me when he was playing for about five years and we became pretty good mates, so I'd like them to do it for him.

That being said some of thier ahole supporters kicked the doors on my Statesman in.. after a game the Saints won at Whitton Oval one Saturday.....I removed my Saints stickers from then on.

The Eagles will be too good tho, and I got over the car (eventually)

Gotta barrack for the dogs. I remember when we got over them in finals in 2009 a couple of their supporters behind us absolutely shattered but still wished us luck saying now they hoped we'd go on and win the flag. I always remember it.

I wouldn't look it at it that way SP. If the Dogs, a fellow underdog can do it, it means that we can as well.

Never bought that bs how opposition supporters from the bigger clubs like Carlton and Essendon wanted to see a fairly tale GF play off between us only so they could avoid the potential pain of losing to a lowly club. Good for the game and all that. Patronising and condescending. One winner between two underdog clubs is the cruelest joke. Always preferred to beat a big club in a GF and we nearly did.

+ 1 I agree with all of that- particularly the 2009 cr@p that they would have won the flag if not for Roo's free in the prelim. Even Brad Johnson came out with that on the telly a couple of weeks ago

Totally with you.
Lived in Perth for 10 years including at the height of their first and most recent flags. A more parochial, narrow, chip on their shoulder, entitled bunch of supporters you will struggle to find anywhere.

Hope they lose big time. That will shut their mob up. Been to numerous games at the Eagles' home ground and the silence when they lose is only broken by whinging and bleating about the umpires, even though they're the most favoured team in the comp by a long margin with the umps.

I guess you have to have lived in Perth to understand it, but I really can't stand their supporters when their at the footy. I worked with plenty of them as well. Lovely people but don't talk footy with them. Most of them see the game through the lens of The West Australian, a rag that rivals The Hun for shallow inanity.

Indeed.

But it also reinforced that we need need to improve our midfield and ball use around the ground if we want to be Top 4. The WC have in theory the superior forward line, but it mattered naught as the Dogs won around the ground and were quicker with better ball use. WC tended to just bomb it forward and hope (Noticeable this year when the Saints did likewise that we got thrashed).

Even while their numbers were not high the Saints win/loss improve when Richo injected the pace of McKenzie and Wright into the team this year. Not the only reason of course, but I think it helped.
