When is H Goddard due back?
With the 6th worst defence in the league (points scored against), if we are going to move into finals consideration, surely this is where we need to improve.
Jake Carlisle will be great, but our backline is ageing big time.
Does anyone know when Goddard is likely to return? Achilles injuries experts?

Re: When is H Goddard due back?
He seemed to be walking freely when I saw him in the social club for the swans game.
Not sure if he has started running yet. Probably not.
I should have listened to the interview but I don't expect him to miss that many games.
No idea.

I spoke with him at the B&F and he indicated that he was tracking well.
Hopefully will play mid next year.
So in terms of seniors is probably more a 2018 player.

Sure, he actually climbed Mt Everest, did the Kokoda Trail, and in Rio, finished fifth in the 400m relay.Ross who? wrote:Isnt he doing a triathlon, marathon thing some time soon? Can't be to far away.
So he's tracking well

Re: When is H Goddard due back?
Our backline is definitely a main area for concern. The introduction of Carlisle will hopefully help the cause, but with integral veterans like Dempster and Fisher pretty well at the twilight of their careers, we're going to need another replacement or two pretty soon. I'm guessing at least one defender may be on the wishlist for the trade/draft period.
Fingers crossed HG makes a full recovery by the mid point of the 2017 season and will start to show glimpses of the potential we are hoping for.

I really hope he improves his agility and speed. At the moment has the turning circle of the Queen Mary and is slow as a wet week

Hahaha Considering he has ruptured an achilles, this sounds logical.magnifisaint wrote:At the moment has the turning circle of the Queen Mary and is slow as a wet week
But in all seriousness, he did look slow this year. It was a shocker for him from word go, after he collapsed from heat exhaustion during the pre-season.

Re: When is H Goddard due back?
Big guys take time. He will be that "pillar of defence" general - Carlisle will be the more that aggressive attacking type. But Hugh's got pretty good foot skills so he should be able to work it out from the back well.magnifisaint wrote:I really hope he improves his agility and speed. Interesting. Seems quick, but I am not a doctor. I thought it was a 12 month injury.lintonstreet wrote:He is on track to be back for round one.

Re: When is H Goddard due back?
Jack Scrimshaw could be a really good get for us. 194cm. Use him in defence until Goddard comes back, then move him to midfield.
