How's our Cheersquad going?
It seems to struggle. The real cheersquad is the Moorabbin Wing it seems.
Has anything concrete happened to reform it so it's up to league standard?
We were debating it on a Facebook forum but it got deleted.

They really should get the slow OWTS chant going late in the game when it's dusted. If it is going to start anywhere it should be the CS.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

I have the same philosophy. That's why you can't bag Eddie McGuire. He is on so many charity boards and cares so much for society it's hard to fault

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
I sit near the cheer squad and I barely notice them most games.
The MW is certainly much more vocal (at least when I used to sit up there years ago), however you cannot hear them at all where I sit.

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
This same old chestnut comes out every season. Maybe just maybe some of you "supporters/Members" could go and sit with the c/s and give them a helping hand with voice , flag waving etc. Im not saying do it every game but if everyone took a turn i am sure jenny and her gang of VOLUNTEERS would really appreciate it. We could hear them doing their chants on TV yesterday and especially when they sang the Saints song with about 4 minutes to go. Just saying.

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
I can't believe how empty it looked behind our goals on the weekend.
Was the most disappointing part of the day to be honest.
Where are all the Saints fans and why can't we get some serious numbers sitting with the cheer squad so we can build a fortress type atmosphere??
Memo to anyone listening, get behind the club as we are coming with a rush, and for some please sit behind the goals to support the Saints.

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
Supposedly the CS is cheap reserved seating that comes with Social Club benefits. If so, maybe people are rorting the benefits and simply not turning up, making it very empty.
It's easy to fix this if the club wants to

Apologies to the grandams out there...but the CS zone is dominated by them which then deters others from being there. They may mean well but at the end of the day they choke any chance of the CS being what it needs to be.
There are too many CS "lifers". CS's should always be about the younger members. There should be a rule of once you hit say 25 or 30 that you have to either leave or sit at the back.
If you want a vibrant CS you need vibrant CS members.

Or go to the carousel to be "reborn" like these 30yo people...saintsRrising wrote:There are too many CS "lifers". CS's should always be about the younger members. There should be a rule of once you hit say 25 or 30 that you have to either leave or sit at the back.
For all of those too young, please google Logan's Run to get the reference.

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
The question has to be asked, does the cheer squad have any impact on our performance on the field?

The current group is not inclusive either. Why do you the the Club had to step in post our last GF after the goings on?
What do you want the CS to be? Ask yourself that. If it is actually a LOUD and PROUD VOCAL Cheer Squad then you are not going to achieve that with an aged CS. The current CS which sit a couple of bays from where I normally do are no more vocal than other areas of the ground, and that means that they are not at all what I imagine a CS could or should be.
PS: There is a whole ground to be inclusive with and for everyone and anyone who wants to come and attend and barrack for the Saints. The Moorabbin Wing area shows that.

Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
Perhaps the Moorabbin Wing folk could start a rebel cheer squad with their own flags, banners and floggers?
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!
Re: How's our Cheersquad going?
Get some of the Victory boys to liven the joint up!
USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
