Eli
Does anyone rate him?
I don't. Really can't see him cutting it.

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Eli
I don't like bringing guys in for 1 game. Eli sub next week. I doubt Roo plays so we'll bring in Schneider for a bit of experience. Membrey probably comes in as well.plugger66 wrote:Will be interesting with what they do with him next week. Very winnable game next week so I would expect Schneider to play. Not sure who for.
In Membrey, Schneider, out Roo, Lonie

Eli should've been sub this week not Sinclair.Old Mate wrote:I don't like bringing guys in for 1 game. Eli sub next week. I doubt Roo plays so we'll bring in Schneider for a bit of experience. I like your changes. Not sure about Paddy, but given its only Melbourne maybe one more game. Clearly needs another pre season to be ready

Re: Eli
This the quandary isn't it… Eli needs to play, he needs games into him, but you're right Schneids needs to play….plugger66 wrote:Will be interesting with what they do with him next week. Very winnable game next week so I would expect Schneider to play. Not sure who for.
Maybe Ray for Schneids…
I think Eli needs at least one more game.
Also think Murdoch needs a game, he has had two good ones in a row, needs to play when he's on….
Maybe Lonie needs a rest as well…..
Re: Eli
Just doesn't do a lot, doesn't break the lines, doesn't have excellent skills, didn't hit the scoreboard.
Agree with bringing Membrey in if Roo is out, need the link player from half back to forward. Membrey is really good at leading up to the wings. Want to see Paddy play again, but could see them dropping him because of the tank.
I reckon keeping him would do wonders for the confidence.

Re: Eli
Think Eli is a classic example of a player trying to regain the momentum he had before a serious injury.
The expectation is he comes in and should be at his best but I am not so sure it is as easy as that.
Somewhere in the back of the mind it must play on you.
Going to need games and another pre-season before we know one way or the other whether he is going to be a player.

Re: Eli
I dont get why people keep talking up sinclair so much. i rate him as having a bright future for sure, but his stats output are no better than Minchi or Eli's game today. I think all 3 have great potential but all need to win more of their own ball. As mentioned, huge injury and will take time for him to regain full confidence but I thought bar missing his shots on goal, he was solid without being spectacular. Listening to mark Riccuito on radio today before the showdown and he kept talking about certain players just needing games, that learnign the craft at AFL is the only thing that'll get players to develop and an 8 time all australian ought to know something!! Re: Eli
I think we, me included rate Sinclair so highly despite low stats is because he is clean below knees, clean by hand and foot.
He has also been the sub so often affecting his numbers.
Please Richo let him play some full games

Re: Eli
Sinclair is a fair way ahead of Minchington & Templeton, he has played most games this year & been good to very good in most games.
He is the best value find of the season coming from the rookie list.

Re: Eli
Big question marks on Eli. But he was a rookie pick so no surprises. Would be a surprise if he makes it.
Still not sure. He doesnt have a set role. Needs to work out what kind of player he is.

Re: Eli
Eli looked flashy with his long hair in the 2014 pre season...don't think he showed much even before his injury....there are a few others I reckon are ahead of him....Murdoch instead of Schnieder.....then Acres & Mckenzie probably ahead of Sinclair. Not sure we can fit Lonie and Sinclair into the same team, especially if Billings is playing. Just not enough size and strength.

Re: Eli
10 games. That's what Eli has played. 10. One as sub. One for less than a quarter. So 8 full games.
First five games last year were very good for a first year player.
He's played four AFL games since returning from a serious injury, one as sub.
And he's just 20 years old.
I think any judgement is just a touch too soon.

Re: Eli
Yes, he didn't do much yesterday. He didn't seem to know what to do, to me. It's a huge step-up from VFL to AFL, so he needs more games and should not be dropped next week.
However, I am not sure that he has the skills to make it.
Several players in this boat now - Eli, Minch, Sinclair, Lonie and perhaps Siposs (been injured). Someone will not make it and Eli could be the one.

Yep, give the kid a go. He has some real zip, and good skills, quiet game yesterday, but did some good things and got good separation when leading.Beno88 wrote:10 games. That's what Eli has played. 10. One as sub. One for less than a quarter. So 8 full games.

Does he really have Zip. I think that could be his issue actually.
