Disgraceful umpiring - club needs to act
Dropping the ball
in the back
shepherding out of contests
not paid
they duck their head - paid
go near them with the ball - paid
St. Kilda administration stand up! Enough is enough!

Free against Fisher for daring to attempt to mark
No free for a blatant push in the back in a centre infringement
Something needs to be said - and those in charge need to explain some of these decisions.

I reckon a most of the frees we did get were out on the full too. Terrible umpiring, so blatant its embarrassing. Why do the do it to us? We need to stop sucking up to this rabble of an organisation.

They are playing better than us - granted, but I don't think we have to be a patsy for dubious umpiring decisions every single week.

Re: Disgraceful umpiring - club needs to act
How much money is being poured into this club period, 25,000 capacity ground and I reckon there would be more people at my local club's game here in Hoppers Crossing.
How can they afford to pay their players when no one shows up and how many who did show up got free tickets. Be great having a final with less than 10,000 showing up.
I've said it since this club first formed, it is going to be a financial disaster and Tasmania should have been where the new club should have gone, they would pack out a 30,000 seat stadium every week.

What's the free kick count to this stage? Even the commentators are saying a lot of their frees are soft.

It's all about GROWING the game Bruce. It will take a long time but it will work. Two generations down the track (50 years) and Sydney and Greater Western Sydney will have a combined 100,000 members. Just like the 2 teams in WA and SA.Bruce G McAbee wrote:How much money is being poured into this club period, 25,000 capacity ground and I reckon there would be more people at my local club's game here in Hoppers Crossing.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: Disgraceful umpiring - club needs to act
Last time I checked players were not supposed to be rewarded free kicks for ducking the head. I've seen a few out there today. I'll tell you what is disgraceful; the standard of umpiring.citywest wrote:Disgraceful post Samurai.

The worst one was Membrey who didn't duck, got taken high, then about 5 seconds later the GWS player did duck and was rewarded.

Ok, here's my question of years of listening to Vlad the Impaler tow the part line-
WHY does the game "have to grow?" And WHY do millions have to be spent in an AFL wasteland?
Millions going into a big black hole and it wiint be any more grown than it is today.
You can hear more noise from the St Kikda fans than the home team.

Hard to understand the rules these days. No consistency whatsoever.
We need to approach AFL and have the holding the ball rule clarified. At the moment it is nonsensical.
Also blocking and arm chops. We need to prepare a video package and clarify each non decision.
Umpires didn't cost game but made it virtually unwatchable and the AFL should be concerned about that!

Western Sydney is rusted on NRL and Soccer. Hard to see any growth in that region. Consider Sydney have been there since the 80's won a flag and still can't always fill the SCG.citywest wrote:It's all about GROWING the game Bruce. It will take a long time but it will work. Re: Disgraceful umpiring - club needs to act
I watched the match and thought we played below our best for crucial periods. Umpiring decisions were at times bizarre, but we need to win games regardless of umpiring decisions. As far as the crowd figures are concerned, I thought the sight of all those empty seats in the grandstands was awful, for a side in the eight. ( there again North Smelbourne had lots of empty seats for their game last evening)
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

You must love us losing. helps you cause of knocking the coach and the coach is responsible for the skills anyway.

Re: Disgraceful umpiring - club needs to act
the umpire can break a teams flow and spirit. He can change the flavour of a game in seconds. He can decide a game. Todays umpiring was one sided , defensive work can suffer when the player is too scared to touch an opponent for fear of a soft free.spert wrote:Umpires are not responsible for terrible skills, or for poor defensive work- that's the coach
What did you think of the umps Spert ?
