Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
Seems to be blitzing Port Adelaide and I know a good game does not necessarily make for a good season. BUT!!
Good Luck to him but If so, didn't we give him enough chances?

I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
Was always an athletic ruckman that we tried to make a forward. Doing it again with Hickey. It kills me.

I don't buy this business he lacked a chance to shine at stkilda, he for whatever reason is playing better at Geelong

That's what I reckon. He had lots of opportunities at the Saints including the ruck.SainterK wrote:I don't buy this business he lacked a chance to shine at stkilda, he for whatever reason is playing better at Geelong

Come out...of the closet. Lets just see how Hugh turns out.
How long do you really perservere with someone?
Sometimes you've just got to cut your losses and get some value while you can.

He lacked the chance to ruck with us.SainterK wrote:I don't buy this business he lacked a chance to shine at stkilda, he for whatever reason is playing better at Geelong
When he did ruck - our clearance rate went up.

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
Everytime we heard our players asked what was Stanley's best position they said "ruck"! Our coaches played him as our 1st ruck in one game against WCE when he did his hamstring.
What a turn around Stanley is rucking better, is showing second efforts, chasing and causing all sort of trouble running out of centre.
Saints wanted another early draft pick which was fine, but their player development is going to look very poor once again if Stanley keeps up this form!

He was on the verge of breaking out last year. Had some really strong games for us.chook23 wrote:Maturing as tall should at his age................still to come into his primeSainterK wrote:I don't buy this business he lacked a chance to shine at stkilda, he for whatever reason is playing better at Geelong

Goddard will be good though, I'm confident.

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
We should have played him as our number one ruckman for an extended period as we should be playing Hickey also - Longer is not up to it.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
What can anyone expect? This is how we develop players. Turning ruckmen into forwards.
Stanley was always going to be very good but never got the chance to be our no.1 ruck. We're trying to turn hickey into a forward now. Shame we traded Stanley. I'm sure Goddard will be good for us though:)

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
What's this? Rhys Stanley is coming out tonight? I would never have guessed he'd be the first AFL player to do that.
Jokes aside, he's looking in pretty good touch tonight. A decent game of footy to boot.

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
We've had many players in my memory that have played 4 to 6 great games a season , the rest average or injured .
Stanley fit into this catergory .
I say good luck to him at Geelong !

Very disappointing news if Stanley has injured his foot. Has had a great night.

And now he's injured again. Well at least that happened many times when he played for us too.

Re: Stanley's "Come Out Night?"
I thought we already had the Rainbow Round?
My prediction is this will be Stanley's best ever career season of footy. New Club. Right Age. Has to prove himself in front of new people etc.
Dont see him going on with it in future yes. Will be long forgotten when Hugh Goddard is tearing it up in a few years time.
