Never give up!
I have read this site for many many years long before i signed up with a username and never felt the urge to post (and not just because of the bickering). But I just have to say how much I love the never give up attitude we have been playing this year. Last year if we were losing by 5 goals in the first quarter you could just tell we were in for a 100 point loss. But this year even though I crack it after we get smashed for a quarter I don't lose hope because this side has the drive and determination to be able to come back. Even the potential for a comeback is enough for me. Besides Rooeys two goals in the first quarter there was very little positive and I thought to myself, oh here we go again. THEN BANG come out in the second quarter and played like a completely different team. I just loved it!
It was great to have big Nick back and firing for us, not having to rely on Bruce who was having a bit of a quiet game, but in saying that he kicked 1.3, bit of luck and bit more accuracy and I would of thought he was great once again haha! Another brilliant game by Armo, who if he doesn't at least finish the year with a b&F and an all Australian i'll be lost for words.
Very excited by the youth, Billings, Lonie , Dunstan, Weller, Bruce, Webster i love them all! I'm looking forward to the bright future we have!

Re: Never give up!
Momentum shifts have been crazy this year in AFL footy. I think for us its been a bit of young teams in dogs and lions getting way ahead of themselves at qtr time and acting like superstars and then finding they can't just flick a switch to get back the intensity. Whilst Richo has found a magic switch he can turn on with our group to really get them to pressure and play with intent as a group. The transformations have been amazing.
I think some of this ability to come back comes from our ability to keep possession of the ball better with players like Lonie, Sinclair, Webster, Acres, McKenzie, Billings etc all being good users of it. If you put on stacks of pressure and get the ball back, but then just go and turn it over straight away or kick to a fiddy-fiddy then you're back where you started and have to spend a lot of your petrol tickets chasing tail. I think that's what happened to Brissy a bit today. But if you keep the footy then you can put your energy into running to support the guy with the ball and get the link up play happening which then lets you keep the ball better as a circular thing. Hawks are the masters of winning contested ball and then keeping ball so the oppo run themselves futilely ragged.
But yes they are really good signs that our players can find another gear in work rate and pressure and buy into the team ethos. They will have earned much more respect in the competition now. There won't be teams being too cocky being up against us at qtr time anymore

Good call Tommykit - agree with all that
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Never give up! That's a good catch cry.
Maybe we can sing this song before the start of the game a la 'Never Tear Us Apart' at the Power:

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Never give up!
Speaking of never giving up, how good was Lonie putting pressure on those two Brisbane defenders and singlehandedly inducing a turnover?
Just loved his never say die attitude.

Whilst the early blowouts are a problem... The developing resilience of the group is fantastic

Re: Never give up!
Our worst two performances of the year against the filth and Carlton ironically came after brilliant starts..
Hasn't been a game this year where we haven't shown something at stages. I'm sure there are some big losses coming in the second half, but the year has been miles ahead of last years when we all nearly said we would of been the same if not worse than last year
