Number Four
Possibly the most respected number at St Kilda....Baldock, Breen, Lockett.........Templeton !
Eli did look exciting in last years NAB cup, flashing in with his golden locks and kicking a couple of goals....but giving him number four is premature at the very best, and at worst is downright disrespectful or a sad reflectection of the clubs ability to identify talent.

He was poor today but give him time. Singling him out after seven games is a little unfair.Toy Saint wrote:Possibly the most respected number at St Kilda....Baldock, Breen, Lockett.........Templeton !

The club clearly sees a future in him and I'll back them in. For what its worth, he has #4 due to the Tassie connection, one of which he was very proud of.
If he puts in a performance like that after 6 years on the list, then start asking questions.

Sorry Toy saint but that's just cr*p.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Number Four
Seriously - lets pot a young kid that may or may not make it in AFL football - a couple of games, seriously injured, did not smash it up in his first game back - can him!
#4 is important to St Kilda - but sorry - the only #4 that is important once the siren rings is Eli - and we should be behind him 110%

Re: Number Four
I am going to stick with #4. He has that x factor you cant learn. He may have 2nd year blues but he will be a crackerjack player.

Re: Number Four
He suffers from the same problem that too many at the club do - he's too small and is easily brushed aside. Today, it was literally a case of the midgets against the giants. Perhaps he needs a supplement program - as long as nobody knows what's in it, it will be OK by any AFL Tribunal. Our talent is not deep, so he'll get a few more opportunities to show some improvement, and after today's game, he can only improve.

We looked like making a fair comeback late in the last as well.Bernard Shakey wrote:Is that an Easter reference?matrix wrote:christ sake its round one

Re: Number Four
It's a number. We have to give it to someone and seeing that it would be ridiculous to retire it any discussion about who gets it given where our list is at is dribble.

Re: Number Four
I think we were a bit premature to elevate him off the rookie list. He just doesn't seem up to it just yet. IMHO
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Number Four
Nerve damage from his broken arm suggested he wouldn't play until later in the year...has worked his arse off & is miles ahead of schedule.
Had a bad day but is talented & hard working.
But yes, write him off now, add him to the list of lost causes with Acres, White, etc

Re: Number Four
Robert Harvey wore number 35 and made it his own. He was offered lower numbers but declined.
Number 4 belongs to Doc.
Plugger was number 14 (he won a Brownlow in that number).
Number 7 belongs to Nicky and Lenny, two vastly different players!
They are just numbers and no one is better than any other!
