Saints to trade with the swines?

Post: # 1499518Post White Winmar »

Rumour I heard this morning about the swines wanting to trade for the number 1 pick. Seems they are very keen on Petracca and are willing to be generous in their dealings. The initial offer would be Sam Reid and Tom Mitchell. I don't know that I'd take that. I think Petracca could be the goal kicking midfielder that we so desperately and potentially a marquee player. Thoughts?

Must admit that I also heard about this trade through a St Kilda board member and I thought it couldn't possibly be true.

Reid is average, but Mitchell is worth plenty.

The difficult question is whether Mitchell is better or worse than Petracca - and not right now, but when both have hit their straps.

I wouldn't be prepared to settle for a lesser midfielder in order to get Reid.

Hmmmmmmm...

Ok, it's all speculation at this time of the year of course, but every single story that pops-ups re another club looking to do a trade to get the number one pick...

Which player is every club mentioned then said to want to draft...?

If that doesn't tell us something...

PS: The Swines can get stuffed. Any deal that doesn't include us getting Drago back... is no deal!

Could we use it to get Tommy Walsh back?

I would not be keen to lose a high draft pick on a very injury prone player.

Does that offer include their first round pick, which at thi stage would be from 16 to 18?

We have to recruit high end talent or we will never rise up the ladder....swans would get 2 A grade mids in the first round and what do we get?

The gap gets bigger

Cannot understand that trade when you look a their two Academy picks on the horizon. But if true, agree with the poster who pointed out Petracca is the one most sort after. Mitchell would be great but looking at Dunstan, Armitage, Steven I think we have that type of mid covered. Hold the pick IMO, take Petracca, work at getting Jaksch through the PSD, negates the need for Reid. We still have pick 20 or so, meaning another valuable pick for a tall forward that may drop down the pecking order.

No Barry, my understanding is it is just for the players. That's one of the reasons why I wouldn't do it. If they ended up throwing in their first pick, would that sway you?

It seems fair but I wouldn't take it...

Funnily enough in leaning towards wanting Petracca now without even seeing these blokes play!

All based on hype!

I just dont want to trade with those bastards.

theyget a leg up from the AFL at every opportunity, now they are going to get a top 5 pick @ pick 18 because he is in flipping NSW.

How many advantages can those arseholes get?

They get 1 mill extra to pay for Tippett and Franklin and get players for nothing.

f*** them, they can give us Reid, Mitchell, and Heeney (somehow).

Give them three fifths of f*** all IMO

Both have the potential to be top players, but you want at least a nailed on megastar for Pick 1.

Solid build, low centre of gravity, uses well.

We are not looking to be in finals contention next year, so we don't need to rush past young talent. I wouldn't want to hand this one to the Swans.

Absolutley no. Reid = average, Mitchell = good player that is injury prone and can't get in their first 22.

Petracca thanks.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

NO, NO and NO should be our final answers to those rorting pricks' offer.

I will be extremely disappointed if this rumour is true and we go through with this. I, for one, am looking forward to excitement of getting the #1 pick in the draft and seeing how his career turns out.

It makes no sense to me. The 1st draft pick could or should be an All Australian. Mitchell isnt good enough to get a regular game in Sydney, a bit like Savage last year. Just a tad short of a regular game. And Reid...an Ok player...better than Stanley?...better than Spencer White...maybee..or maybee not...

Lets get Petracca.

Uses well???

80% of his kicks in that highlights compilation either went to the opposition or didn't hit a target - 2 went OoF

He might use it by hand ok but there are definitely questions marks over his use by foot - and this has been highlighted by quite a few others in the know.

If you have 1st pick you would hope you could use it on a stand out whose skills are 1st rate - don't know if that's the case with Petracca.
