More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
From the Club's websitehttp://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-09-0 ... st-changes
No surprises. TDL's highlight DVD at the Saints would be a "blink and you'll miss it" job. Sammy Dunnell - fine battler, top VFL player. Unfortunately for him just so-so height, build, pace and skill. Like the guy, just a pity he fell short of what's required in today's AFL. Wish both of them well.

Re: More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
That's SEVEN changes to our list already (including Milera). Throw in a trade or 2 and we could change our list by almost 25%. Finishing 18th, we need to go that hard !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Just had a look at the 2012 Draft.
Once you ignore the Rookie elevations, in the main there has not been a lot of success with picks 46 on (and ignore the Rookie elevations). So while my first thought was it was a wasted pick in trading him for pick 46, when you look at it it was probably a fair enough punt in a draft that was clearly very shallow for talent.

Re: More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
Right! Here's the real one:noob wrote:Wasn't that last year's draft?
https://www.draftguru.com.au/years/2012#national-draft
The highlights:
Dane Rampe (rookie) 44 games
Matt Jones 41 games
Dean Terlich 35 games
Sam Dwyer (rookie) 33 games
Dean Kent 27 games
Ricky Petterd (rookie) 27 games
Lachie Hunter (fs) 23 games
Kane Mitchell (rookie) 23 games
Jack Frost (rookie) 23 games
No-one else taken at or after 46 has played more than 20 games. Not a lot of stars there so I think saintsRrising's original point holds.

TDL had plenty of chances.
Thought Dunell didn't get enough opportunities in the seniors.
Should have given him another year.

Re: More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
Does that mean they will still play for Sandy in the semi-final on Saturday?
It's almost a bit rude.
A a real test of their professionalism.

Re: More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
TDL was one I was pretty mad about from the moment I heard we had traded for him, mainly because of the type of player he is.
I actually feel really sorry for him now, on the verge of a flag a couple of years back to not able to get a game in the 18th side. The guy can obviously seriously play with sublime skills, but really not suited to a side struggling for forward 50 entries.
Dunell I never quite understood why we upgraded him so soon, again has good skills, but not really an AFL footballer.
I wonder if Essendon will have a look at him?
Good luck to both!

TDL is a dead eye kick but needs supply. I agree at a very good side like the Hawks he would have been a good player.dragit wrote:TDL was one I was pretty mad about from the moment I heard we had traded for him, mainly because of the type of player he is.

Re: More delistings - TDL and Dunnell
Im actually thrilled that the club has been so quick and agressive in the off season so far.
Sad for both players but TDL had his shot and didn't take it and Sammy D unfortunatly never made the grade at AFL level
Bring on the changes I say.

He may have been a dead eye dick at the Swans, but 9.11 at the Saints wasn't good enough for the type of role he was supposed to fill.gringo wrote:TDL is a dead eye kick but needs supply. No it wasn't, but I'd say he was under massive pressure knowing his career was clearly on the line…kosifantutti wrote: He may have been a dead eye dick at the Swans, but 9.11 at the Saints wasn't good enough for the type of role he was supposed to fill.
I'd say he is certainly a good kick for goal overall contrary to those numbers.
