Enough of the Terrible Guernsey Designs Already!
I, for one, am tired of our club's attire being defecated on by faceless graphic design gremlins. If we're going to rebuild, could we do it with dignity and at least give the players something to wear that they'll feel great pride in actually wearing. Our once sacred traditional club guernsey (up until 2011, when tampered with) was a classic. Even through the lean years of the 80s, we sucked, but we at least had the best bloody guernsey in the league.
The Indigenous Round guernsey is the final straw. We complained about the yellow in 2001, now it has just got out of hand. Sheesh, the tombstone strip of the late 90s was a ripper in comparison to the trash they have been churning out lately.
Fair enough, we have to get with the times and have alternate guernseys, but for the love of God, could they just not be such a bloody eyesore.
I sure as hell won't be buying a new jumper anytime soon whilst the club keeps giving the green light to produce complete aesthetic abominations. Some of those designs may as well be based on Daryl Somers' old Hey, Hey, it's Saturday knitwear.
FAIR DINKUM!

I agree. Bring back the one we had last in 2009. The best one of all. The thin black stripe on the white arm bit looked cool

The ones Lockett and Barker are wearing on your is my favourite. But yeah, the 2009 home guernsey one was great. 2010 not quite as good, but still a winner. After that they have looked like a wetsuit. BUT WHY DO THEY DO IT?!?! Would be nice keep some old fashioned traditions going.stevie wrote:I agree. Bring back the one we had last in 2009. Re: Enough of the Terrible Guernsey Designs Already!
Does it really matter if it's only for a couple of games per year?
Didn't the club put a series of designs to a vote when the stickman jumper won?
I'm guessing that the club makes more money by selling a number of jumper designs each year, rather than just 2.

Yeah, I was also a fan of the heritage/candy strip.Saints94 wrote:Gotta love the candy strip! best away/clash gurnsey ever IMO.
Love in that shot how Fraser has a look of concern for that nutcase Hawthorn fan. Reckon he probably advised the Hawks man to check him self into a psych clinic.
YES, IT DOES. We want our guernseys to be aesthetically pleasing, not looking like a technicolour yawn.dragit wrote:Does it really matter if it's only for a couple of games per year?

They could also make more money from sales if they made it LOOK GOOD, couldn't they?

Stickman and the 1930s bathing costume were very average, IMO.
