McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
The commentators on Channel 7 didn't seem like they were sure why but suggested it might have been because they needed to inject some pace.
Has it since been confirmed why? I didn't catch the pressers after the game.

He was extremely poor. 3 marks and 8 hitouts. Not good for a big bloke.

Yeah unless it is injury he will come into focus for all the wrong reasons this week you would think.Old Mate wrote:He was extremely poor. 3 marks and 8 hitouts. Not good for a big bloke.

Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
We often had nothing games from him.
Business as usual. Everyone got on the bandwagon after round 1 when he smashed the Lions.
As it turns out the Lions are a TAC Cup standard side.
Flat track bully.

Out of the McEvoy trade, we got Savage and pick 18 (Dunstan), and an upgrade in picks that allowed us to get Acres (pick 19). I ask you: who won out of that trade?

If Hawks win a flag and he plays a role in it then they havent lost.

Too early to call...if Mac wasn't injured then he's got some work to do just like Savage has.sainterinsydney wrote:Out of the McEvoy trade, we got Savage and pick 18 (Dunstan), and an upgrade in picks that allowed us to get Acres (pick 19). I ask you: who won out of that trade?

That sounds more like the player we traded for Dunstan and Acres plus the steak knives, errr Savage.Old Mate wrote:He was extremely poor. 3 marks and 8 hitouts. Not good for a big bloke.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

You couldn't possibly last that long. Pick something more realistic.plugger66 wrote:kosifantutti wrote:And if Savage wins the Brownlow....plugger66 wrote:

With a partner. The other way would be harder to do than not posting for an hour.

Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
With McEvoy and Hale in the same side I'd say the intention was always to sub one of them out to get more run later in the game. Wouldn't read anything into it.

He still can't get off the ground but it's not like they didn't know what they were getting.
I wouldn't write him off and he will be very useful come finals time.

Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
Sorry, but typical. He got smashed at centre bounces which is somewhat typical. Well done to Chris Pelchen for his shrewdness and guts. History we'll see us as having reamed Hawthorn on this deal. We took Ben Evoy with 7 in the 2007 draft. Always an act of insanity to invest such a high pick in a ruckman, particularly when we could have used it on: Patrick Dangerfield; Cyril Rioli or Callan Ward all would have been significantly better picks. May have even cost us a flag. Having traded him for Dunstan, Acres and Savage has gone some way to fixing that mistake.

Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
Yeah I thought something along those lines trying analyse if the move was strategic. If it was to get more run then it raises the question as to when such a strategy was formed. Have they only recently discovered something they never realised before the trade or does it fit into Clarksons long standing ruck strategy. Time will tell what's gone on.remboy wrote:With McEvoy and Hale in the same side I'd say the intention was always to sub one of them out to get more run later in the game. Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
Simply because he was crap. Took one good pack mark, but had no influence on the game. My Hawks supporting mate sounds as disappointed with McEvoy as we are with Savage. Call it a nil all draw and move on.
