best ruckman since spider?

A mate and i were discussing the other day who was our best ruckmen since spider and it really only comes down to 2 in my eyes Gardner and Big Boy McEvoy...
I said gardy he said McEvoy what do you guys think or anyone eles?

Even though Gardiner was past his best by the time he got to us he was much of the reason for our improvement in 2009.
Ben has improved and if he continues to do so for another 20 years he will be almost as good as Gardiner.
Ben may be a better person but as ruckmen the comparison is like that of a water pistol to a cannon!

My guess is there was no follow up game if the same ruck combination stayed. Lets face it we are all guessing but thats my opinion.

Maybe that's why the club were eager to trade McEvoy, like most posters in this thread, they, the club, knew McEvoy was not up to it in the ruck.

Agree, and like others said, both Gardi and King were past their best, but still better than Ben.

I always rated Lazar, and Paul Harding better than Spider, but I was young at the time. I actually thought Paul was under rated.

He came as an establish Ruckman

Ben was a developing Ruckman for the majority of his saints career
91 games
18 HO per game... Probably less to advantage
11 possession per game
4.5 marks per game with 1.5 being contested

I think we underrate one a bit and overrate one a bit
