Interesting move indeed. And I like the creative approach. It's all about spreading the net as far and wide as possible - in every sense; geographical, sentimental etc. - to engage supporters.

Awesome, I'll be able to walk up the street and watch. They should be looking to get out of that Seaford train wreck as soon as possible.

Im trying to work out why it matters where they train. Why do you think it matters?

Its great news. Great PR and great for the community (Im sure the players like it too) . Should be an annual event - even an annual praccy match there would be a good result.

Bad timing. Should be at Moorabbin as the GPrix finishes the day before and the whole circuit will be still closed to traffic.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Re: Open training at the Junction Oval!
It matters because the media hate traveling there. It matters because the club has already outgrown the facility. It matters because if you're a player and you have the pick of any club, why would you come to St.Kilda when you have to travel 40 minutes out of Melbourne to train? It matters because there's no history in the place... How do you create moral or pride in a club in such a soulless facility? The decision to move there was and still is an embarrassment.plugger66 wrote:prwilkinson wrote:Awesome, I'll be able to walk up the street and watch. Well if they have already outgrown the area then the Junction isnt the answer. There is bugger all room and the grandstands I beleive are heritage listed. Media seem to have no issue going to Glen Waverley. They will have no issue going to Seaford when we start winning. They had no issue going there when the club had some controversies. We had no issue getting players from other clubs this year. And why is it 40 minutes to train. most live around mordy now. Just as close to Seaford as Moorabbin and much closer than the Junction. Why is there soul where Hawthorn train? And do you honestly think we arent playing well because of where we train. Jack is one of the most improved players in the AFL and he trains there and he also comes from a further distance to training than most players and he also didnt have a licence for a year so if anyone should struggle wouldnt it be him?

Watch out for the traffic light speed camera on fitzroy st behind the ground. It's 40kmh and traps a lot of people.

I reckon you have got it. One non training session at 5.30pm means we will somehow get 100 million if not more to build a ground. Actually sure about that Walt.

Re: Open training at the Junction Oval!
Does everyone realize that Melbourne used the Junction Oval for their training base for years. How did that go for them? And if id didn't help them, how is it going to help us one iota?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

And Fitzroy before them.
One off promotions are great but building a new facility at Frankston would make more sense than going back to 1965.
The club should really embed itself in the Mornington Peninsula and own that whole southern area.
How have we already out grown Seaford in 3 years. Admin?
