GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
Reports on SEN that St KILDA & Western Bulldogs lobbied hard to have a game on Good Friday next year. AFL (Demetriou) currently resisting !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Dimwit may have to concede. Prolly wont be Bummers playing on Anzac Day. Need some extra revenue from a new timeslot. May as well be us and Frogs on GF.

My guess is that Dimwit will officially step down in November coinciding with 10yrs as CEO.stevie wrote:Dimwit may have to concede. Prolly wont be Bummers playing on Anzac Day. Need some extra revenue from a new timeslot. May as well be us and Frogs on GF.

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
sounds fine with me to have a good Friday game. Those who object on religious grounds can simply not attend.

I hope so. I respect those Christians who wish to devote the day to commemorate the most important event to their faith, but that should not prevent the rest of us from enjoying the football.

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
I'm with you Jiggster, for me it is a simple compromise, a Friday night game, because by then everyone who is going to church has gone and you tie it in with RCH appeal.
Who could argue with the AFL raising a 100 grand or more for the RCH.
I am a Christian and I don't have a problem with it.

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
It is people's choice if they go to the game but Good Friday is not about the RCH? It is actually much more than that!
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
R. Harvey 3 votes! Yes to a section of society it IS "actually much more than that" But a Friday night game would provide a suitable compromise, as 3rdster suggests.

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
For a second I thought GF stood for Grand Final. If they can get AD to guarantee us a game on grand final day that would be an achievement. Even better if it's against the Dogs.stevie wrote:Dimwit may have to concede. Prolly wont be Bummers playing on Anzac Day. Need some extra revenue from a new timeslot. AFL hypocrisy.
Most of the world plays sport on this day.
Most of the world plays sport on this day.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

even in the Bible belt in the US they play NFL on Good Friday.
Your time has come Dimwit. STFU and fixture Good Friday Footy!
If he doesn't relent this time he'll be shown once again how arrogant and out of touch he is.

Maybe we should have a mid season break at ramadan as well.

Re: GOOD FRIDAY FOOTY !!
It's all about a personal promise that Demetriou made to Ron Evans... Evans didn't believe in footy on Good Friday & his disciple Vlad made somewhat of a death bed promise.
It's great that Peter Gordon has identified us as the other team... It'll be part of an evener upper thanks to the rubbish stadium deal that the Dogs & us have.

I've got the day planned already. Hot Cross Buns in the morning, wash both the cars then off to the footy (twilight). That would be the ONLY twilight game that I WOULDN'T whinge about !!Cairnsman wrote:It's a little early isn't it??
Don't we normally have this debate a week before Good Friday?
