Re: Port Power
Very exciting to watch... They were on the ropes and have just come back and smashed a hardened finals outfit.
No more pies - thank you!
We can hope to be like this in a few years...
Mids mids mids.

I was on Wingard after the first couple of games- said we should throw any amount of money at him. Wines is outstanding too. Colqhoun came as a rookie for free and now playing finals. 3 men at every contest still works wonders.
Re: Port Power
Wines and wingard are amazing. Great coaching by n Buckley to let wingard roam free when it counted.

Buckley has skin issues, if you've noticed, it's not easy coaching the McGuires, it might be stress, it might be whisky, it might be eddies kissing after a win, eddies rodgering after a loss..
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Goodbye feral filth. Happy days.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Port Power
Wished we had of selected Ken Hinkley over Watters you could see the passion the Port players had for him after the game - similar to Lyon. Watters has never engendered anything like that in his time with the Saints...

Yes they have done it well.Zed wrote:Got to admire the Powers turn around on and off field.
I can't help but feel that their Pres has set the tone. Very energetic and creates a great buzz, without being too over the top. Much better than our former sad-sack.
Hinkley was a great choice as coach. Everyone knew he was a great coach in waiting. But no-one would give him the gig.

Re: Port Power
they do have a better list which might have something to do with the way they are playing and the results they are getting.WinnersOnly wrote:Wished we had of selected Ken Hinkley over Watters you could see the passion the Port players had for him after the game - similar to Lyon. Re: Port Power
Port are interesting.
Port bottomed out after getting smashed by geelong in the 07 GF, thats 5 years in the wilderness.
Their youngsters are certainly starting to shine, Wingard is awesome but would love for us to get a ready made player like Wines, guy is a freak.
Anyway, I hope we are 2 years into our 'wilderness' period, not at the start.

It's their fitness which has really given them the edge to compete with the best for 4 quarters.

Re: Port Power
Well I was lucky enough to be at the game. The feral filth were going off. Even a bit of noise in the members!
They were as hopeless as us. Loved the turnover footy in a final.
Just wish I had a Port scarf.
Wines and Windgard are freaks size and skill wise for kids to see live. Amazing to watch.

Re: Port Power
Apparently their conditioning guy worked for Liverpool in the EPL ! How much $ thrown around in that comp, suggests that he would be ELITE.FQF wrote:It's their fitness which has really given them the edge to compete with the best for 4 quarters.

Fit players get to more contests; second efforts are better, skills better, etc.
We should target former EPL fitness guys if we can find any, ASAP.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Great result for Port, I thought they would be beaten easily . They have turned the club around, but it hasn't been overnight. Started when they were forced to pay kids 2 or 3 years ago. They have a good coach who has put some polish on them
I love this club

He won heaps in close and was running as a third man often. Provided plenty but he's a steal more the point. Him and Scharenberg were running half backs in last years SA team and he was supposed to go top 20. They got him as a rookie. Wines has turned out to be the pick of the top 10 last year. They did what Sydney did where they had a couple of years astute recruiting to fast track them. Boak and Hartlett took a while but are now big strong mids.
