Did I miss something?

I want him to stay, so hoping your source is off.

Re: Dal
Damian Barrett reported it on the Footy Show tonight.
Though he is now officially contracted for next year (due to the amount of games he played this year), the club is entertaining the idea of a trade. Apparently both the club and Dal think it'd be the best thing for both parties, if the trade conditions are right.

Players drafted 10 - 14 years ago are all at the end of their careers…
If you are suggesting the club is terrible again, why don't you pull up and post the Hawthorn 1 - 25 draft picks over the 2001 - 2007 period

Thx.
Just great.

With Ball and BJ the smoke has meant fire....
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
Re: Dal
Why is that a shame? He's been a great servant of the club. If he wants to go elsewhere and have one last shot at a flag, I think he's earned the right. Especially if he can get us a good draft pick on the way out the door.BigMart wrote:3 great saints, along with Goose.... Gone to play footy to get success elsewhere
Regardless of what happens next, he'll still be a Saint for life. What's the harm in him going for a victory lap elsewhere?

spot on its the way of the future, if both prtys are happy so be it. We need to rebuild , if it fast tracks it all the betterbergholt wrote:Why is that a shame? He's been a great servant of the club. Re: Dal
A bit harsh big mart
How many draftees from 2000 to 2004 are still in the afl ? I'd say of the 350 draftees there is probably only 10 left.
We still have Lenny going around.
I won't lose any sleep if dal goes and we get a top 20 pick AND we use it wisely (no hacks like Mitch Brown and no more bloody ruck men).
Ill lose plenty of sleep if we lose dal for nothing ( I still haven't recovered from Luke ball ).
In hindsight I think our mistake with ball was not really believing he was going .
I think we all thought he was bluffing or at least some at the club did and back in those days we didnt have a professional footy or list manger so it was all up to the senior coach. If someone is going then face up to it and get on the front foot very early to lock in a good trade.

The indications are that Dal's contract extension will be activated, therefore if Dal does indeed end up at another club it will only be via a mutually agreeable trade.

Re: Dal
How easy for Dal's manager to leak this to Barrett, I would be surprised if the club was thinking of trading Dal- at the moment.
IMHO, this is just the manager testing the waters to see who MAY be interested.
A manager would be very slack indeed, if he didn't test the interest like this.
Best to get in early. Timing is perfect.

Re: Dal
I sure hope he doesn't go, and I'm disappointed if the club is ushering him out the door with their ambivalence.
Nevertheless ... a good trade would continue the remarkable story of the Craig Devonport trade.
Devonport to Carlton 1995 for 3 games. We get Barry Hall.
Barry Hall to Sydney 2001, we get Nick Dal Santo.
Dal Danto to ???, we get ????.
Devonport might just work out to be the most profitable player in St Kilda history.

Re: Dal
What is Dal realistically worth?
He's a year older than BJ but similar value.
I'd take pick 18 or better.

Re: Dal
Is someone seriously suggesting not having players from up to 14 years ago suggests a poor club. Anyway we still have 3. That actually may be our problem that we had so many when we were on the way down. I cant get the point of that poster at all. I suppose if we had all 6 that still play we would be finishing about 14th but a very old side on the way down. Probably means we are a year further from rebuilding but hey the club is no good.
