'It's a long way from his early years when he couldn't break through for a regular senior berth.
"There was certainly never any talk of leaving St Kilda or being traded,"he said. "In my first threee of four years I only played 20 games but looking back now I think that playing a lot of reserved footba;; helped me develop as a player and in hidnsight made me the player I am today.
" It was frustrating espceially as the guys i got drafted with - Dal, Xavier Clarke and Luke Ball - were playing a lot of senior footy. That made me hungry.
" My manager always said to me that he'd never tell me about other clubs inquiring unless I was serious about leaving.
" It never enered my head."
