Re: paul connors
From my limited knowledge Paul Connors seems to have too close a relationship with Collingwood, Essendon and other "Big" clubs for my liking !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: paul connors
Ummmm his number 1 priority is to his client (the players) i would expect nothing less of him to try and get the best possible deal, and his client looked after.

The player manager is the natural enemy of the employers/clubs. Like mongoose and cobra. The pair will always differ. He's just spruiking for his clients, and by extension of course, himself. The world keeps turning.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: paul connors
The guy should be de-registered, how many times are we going to see one of his highly sought players walk to the club of his choice via the draft? It's absolute draft tampering just like the Tippett - 2nd rounder agreement. Refusing to speak with clubs shouldn't be allowed, the simple fact is Collingwood couldn't afford both Jolly and Ball in 2009, both players were worth a 1st round pick… to make the deal they'd have to give up a decent player, which they refused to do. After which as we know, they have won a flag with both players.
He's a dirty crook & if the whole comp worked that way we wouldn't need a draft, players could just choose their club and walk to them.

The draft is crooked. Deliberately so in order to try to artificially even out the competition. Would not stand up to any legal challenge as it is a clear restraint of trade.dragit wrote:The guy should be de-registered, how many times are we going to see one of his highly sought players walk to the club of his choice via the draft? As for Luke Ball... Bally was around 20-25 on our list i.e. he was on the fringes of being dropped... we should have sucked it up and taken pick #30 that we were offered.
Then we could have picked up one of these players who were still available...

pick 16 on Andrew Lovett,
pick 32 on Nick Winmar,
pick 48 on Brett Peake,
pick 60 on Jesse W Smith,
pick 64 on Adam Pattinson,
pick 77 on Will Johnson
Then we got
rookie pick 20 Mark Hutchings and cut him after just one year,
rookie pick 36 Daniel Archer
rookie pick 49 Jarryd Allen to enable him to remain listed
rookie pick 60 Leigh Fisher to hang on to him even though we didn't use him
But that was all OK because we got Tommy Walsh as an international rookie at rookie pick 69.
He has played all of 2 games everyone of them for Sydney.
We had such brilliant recruiters for the 2009 draft, I can not imagine how we missed Dylan Robertson and Trent Dennis-Lane.
Is it any wonder we have won so many premierships.
