Justin Koschitzke 2013
It has come up in a few other threads so thought it deserved its own discussion.
All Kosi jokes aside where do people see Kosi playing in 2013.....?
With the introduction of Lee and all accounts Hickey I can't see Kosi being more than a backup in 2013?
Is there something we don't know about? He looked extreamly dejected against the Blues in the last game after not being picked as he walked around the ground before the game, as if he was realising or reflecting on the fact he may not be around for much longer............
Potentially he could play 22 games for Sandy based on 2011-12 form.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Unless something changes with his body over summer....................His agility/speed completely gone
In boxing terms his body is shot
If not for the clause in contract.................. retirement discussions or possibly delisted
in the games before being dropped.............his body WAS JUST LETTING HIM DOWN so much he looked like he was in slow motion.

Yep slow motion is a good way to describe it......maybe a mentoring coaching role?.. Is he any good off field?.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Get off his back. If he only plays 5 games in 2013 then so be it. If he plays 15 and kicks 30 goals then he's done OK.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
This is not a bag Kosi thread, but a genuine discussion on what his role will e in 2013. With the inclusion IMO he will struggle to be picked unless there are injuries.magnifisaint wrote:Get off his back. If he only plays 5 games in 2013 then so be it. But 400,000 is a lot to pay a five gamer.
Just saying..........
Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Salaries make no difference when the team is being picked - they only make a difference at contract time. I don't know what he's on but I'm pretty sure he'll only be in the side when the coaching staff think he's the best option. If Stanley or Wilkes or Lee are playing better then they'll be in the side ahead of him, regardless of their smaller pay packets.andrewg wrote:This is not a bag Kosi thread, but a genuine discussion on what his role will e in 2013. He will be getting paid bugger all next season so what is the big deal?
he played 20 games and kicked 30 goals as the third target. What is so wrong with that?
Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013

From everything i have heard over the years, Kosi is great off field and with the youngsters.andrewg wrote:Yep slow motion is a good way to describe it......maybe a mentoring coaching role?.. Is he any good off field?.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
It was really only Kosi's second half of the year where he struggled, he was going along pretty well early on. Once he got a bit banged up he slowed down and battled.
If the same thing happens this year, it will probably suit us well. The younger guys can get some touch and confidence in the VFL early on, and once their performance picks up they can push Kosi out of the side later in the year.
And then we wont spend the whole off-season putting the weight of the world on our great white hope, whoever that may be....

I hope he has more games like round 6 against Hawthorn. He kicked 5 that day.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
I think Kosi will continue with his on field mentoring role in 2013. He will now have an extra student in 2013 (Tom Lee), meaning that he will be a de-facto coach for Rhys Stanley, Tom Lee, Jay Lever & Aaron Sippops. This could lead to a more formal coaching role for him in 2014 & beyond !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Not sure thats what the future holds for Kosi. He seems like he'd prefer to go back and live on the farm once his playing days are over....Eastern wrote:I think Kosi will continue with his on field mentoring role in 2013. Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
He was going ok before he had to ruck. He is still some value as a FF but with rooey and him in and not able to chase and defend they needed a quick tall with mobility but still wanted size enter Lee. Lee is a bit like buddy in that he's an oversized Steven milne type and can play ground level footy and is quick enough to play a defensive forward role. Stanley is probably just going to get multiple roles until he shows that he's demanding a spot. the mobile quick talls are often hard to use well like Josh Fraser, Kruezer and even Tippett until this year.

I think you've answered your own question, except they have a few byes so it won't be 22.andrewg wrote:All Kosi jokes aside where do people see Kosi playing in 2013.....?

He, hopefully, should be considered depth next year. It would mean we're doing a lot better than we were this year.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Ill get bagged for this. But he is is finished and only playing on in 2013 for the cash.
Too immobile for modern footy.
And dont worry about what I or anyone else says - pay attention to what our inner sanctum DOES.
By going after Lee and Hickey - the actions of the saints footy dept is telling us all something .
1. Kosi wont play in 2014
2. Roo is no certainty in 2014 given his degenerative knees
The way they are hoping it works out after 2014 is Macca/Hickey to play ruck.
Stanley at CHF and Lee at FF with Wilkes 3rd tall banana in the fwd line.

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Kos was playing his role very well until he hurt his hip mid year.
I really hate the bagging that he cops from supporters. If people knew he extent of his injuries I don't think they would be so damning.
To put it bluntly the man is sacrificing the quality of his later life to serve the club. He'll be lucky to be able to run around after his son in 10 years time.
If Watters is happy with what Kos is doing then hat should be enough for some of the armchair experts around.
Back to the OP, I'm sure Kosi is under no illusions where he stands in 2013. He'll play on an occasional basis when Stanley, Roo or Lee are hurt or in need of a rest. Watters does not want him to ruck under any circumstances & hopefully he won't have to if we can add a few back up ruckmen.

Like me saying - oh id be id be awesome at my job if i wasnt stupid so just pretend im not and judge me on the 'imagined performance'.
The fact is injuries are part of life and footy and therefore he is shot. You cant say - oh hed be awesome IF he wasnt injured. So and so would be a star IF he trained. So and so would be a champ IF he was 10 inches taller. Just garbage.
It is also a team sport - not the Kosi appreciation society. Disgraceful how he played against Geelong injured and let his own team-mates and the whole clubs finals chances down trying to be 'tough'. Sorry but that is total BS and not the first time he has done it. Maybe Guerra or McGlynn should have pretended they were right to go on GF day?
He really 'served' the club well with his 'sacrificial' performance against the Cats.
Sorry but your talking total BS.

Even more reason to retire now. You don't want to see a player like him slugging it out in Sandringham, just in case one of the 4 key fwds can't play. I'd give Blake the extra year as a fall back, let Kosi go to pasture.
Nee!

Re: Justin Koschitzke 2013
Sadly Blake will be forced to retire because the 'sacrificial team man' that is Kosi has a year to go on his contract and wont budge.
This is despite the fact Blake is injury free and more value.
