$8.78 million
Apparently that is the salary cap…
There are a lot of figures getting thrown about for certain players… none of us probably know the actual figures, but I thought it might be interesting to see how people imagine our cap is split… I guess there is a standard figure for newly drafted blokes, is it about $50K for base pay?… How much do think these bloke get this year:

Re: $8.78 million
The word that I heard was that Blake was playing for not much more than minimum base pay + match payments this year, as his way of helping the club with the salary cap ... I reckon he would be on around $80-100k ...

id say it looks right.
if we pretend your numbers are close to right. then ud think:
roo/gram/kosi/milne - will all take cuts next year. (kosi especially)
bj/armo/geary/saad/siposs/stanley will all get rises. (armo especially)

Lot of work there drag it, based on your figures I've added any opinion. No comment means i think it's fair or no idea.
Don't know what my changes comes up to, but with delistings and veterans should stay under the cap with my changes, and free up enough for a very good trade player.dragit wrote:

That would be nice, except you don't take a cut if you are already contracted or have a clause to be contracted at the same figure…Con Gorozidis wrote:id say it looks right.

If I am even remotely close on some of these figures, it means that 9 or so blokes (all over 28) are taking more than half of our cap - over 4.5 million. While things are dire right now, in a couple of years we will have plenty of room to play with.

Can't some of those old farts also be put on the old timers list, or what ever it's called, and only 1/2 their salary count. We must have a few in this catigory by now.dragit wrote:That would be nice, except you don't take a cut if you are already contracted or have a clause to be contracted at the same figure…Con Gorozidis wrote:id say it looks right.

Re: $8.78 million
You havent allowed for match payments for most of the young guys. For example Jack would earn at least 200K if he played every game and guys like Milera would earn at least 100K if they play every game.

Re: $8.78 million
I think the rules have changed a bit recently, from what I can gather $100,000 can be excluded from the cap for any amount of veterans on your list - over 30 YO, plus 10 years at the club…8856brother wrote:Can't some of those old farts also be put on the old timers list, or what ever it's called, and only 1/2 their salary count. When Riewoldt was signed up to his current contract the rule at the time was that half his salary would not be counted in the cap (next year). But with the change in veteran rules, it does make his wage a lot harder to justify…
Next year we will potentially have 6 players over 30, so in effect 600,00 outside the cap, not quite as good as half of lenny + roos's wages, which would be around 800,000?

Re: $8.78 million
Good point, I know nothing about match day payments… are they the same for all players (say 2K per game )or are they set by experience, performance etc?plugger66 wrote:You havent allowed for match payments for most of the young guys. No the only payments that are the same are first and second year players. I think it is about 3k minimum a game. A guy like Jack maybe on a set contract or a base and match payments which I reckon would be about 4k at least a game. All the very good players are on set contracts no matter how many games they play.

top 5 b & f etc etc?
Re: $8.78 million
I doubt Milne would be on 400k and I also dont think BJ is overpaid if he is on 400k. As for Winmar he probably couldnt get any less anyway under the pay constraints.skeptic wrote:Most likely all due for a raisedragit wrote: Armitage, David - $150,000

I dont know what figure but probably 15 players are on set contracts no matter how many games they play. Could even be as high as 20. I know the incentive for top 5 in the B&F was changed to just the winner a few years ago but it could be different now.

If these figures are roughly correct , we've got a hell of allot of overpaid players .
