Catches win matches .....
Simple but true cricket statement - would a footy equivalent be - Missed shots cost finals spots >?? Too many times in the last few years the saints have played gut busting footy only to be let down by simple errors in finishing goal scoring opportunities....... rumors about soft tissue injury concerns affecting goal kicking training have got to be rubbish -- unless they are worried about multiple bone fractures occurring during scoring drills and goal shooting practice I would think they ought to spend at least a days training every week on this vital part of the game

Re: Catches win matches .....
I think it's more about temperament and execution under pressure.
Roo and Milney are iffy set shots - partially technique but probably more pressure than anything. A bit like a golfers yips. Kosi is a great set shot but can't snap them. The more they miss the less reliable they become.
At least Siposs was more on target last night. Hopefully he continues like that.

Adelaide looked better drilled with a coach who is credited with a lot of Geelongs success. Watters still is learning his craft and is not quite as flash yet. Adelaide always have a player running past for a link up and seem to be vry well drilled at running into space. Simple well drilled game plan that has a very positive effect.

The Saints kicked 16 goals 15? Don't think it was a case of a particular game style outwitting or outdoing the other. The chances to win the game were there.gringo wrote:Adelaide looked better drilled with a coach who is credited with a lot of Geelongs success. Re: Catches win matches .....
There was at least 3 times we missed an easy getable and they basically scored a goal on the reply straight away. Just couldnt get any scoreboard pressure going.
Had a seat high in the stand behind goal and was so easy to see early on we just didnt run, chase or spread as hard as the Crows, well apart from Gilbert who was busting his gut so many times in defence running from one free Crow to another. Lack of effort in the first 3 probably why we had the legs in the end...

In 2005 or so didn't Milne have 20 straight or something from set shots? Or didn't miss a set shot for an entire season or something like that?HitTheBoundary wrote:I think it's more about temperament and execution under pressure.

I've never thought he's been an iffy set shot, it's just that he rarely is in a position where he's not able to play on or run around.

Koschiztke's dopey 50m penalty didn't help.
Or the times that all Saints defenders ran to the Crow with the ball, leaving all the other Crows in the vicinity unchecked.
And it looks like the Crows have been in the weight-room since September last year - no wonder they kept
busting through our tackles. Even the Coach looks like Arnie junior.

Re: Catches win matches .....
i think its obvious that goals win matches
its the point of the game
to score as many points as possible
i think 2009 is the perfect example at the highest pinnacle
misses have cost us games this year
misses have cost us a flag
