Re: Jason Blake
He wasn't our worst tonight. I'm not sure we have anyone to replace him from the young brigade, but I'd say once Gwilt is fit it's a different story.

Re: Jason Blake
Love the Blake .... but ......
50/50 ball with Jack running onto it - so Blake does what an Under 9 would do and push the opposition clearly in the back - makes it a 100/0 with us on the receiving end.
Too many of these instances cost us dearly.

Re: Jason Blake
Playing Blake now only serves to delay a young player's progress. His clangers were awful tonight. He has been a great servant of the club but like Bakes his time is well and truly over.
Re: Jason Blake
Far from our worst tonight I thought. Goes out when Gwilt is back but atm not keeping anyone out of the side who desrves it.
Re: Jason Blake
Blake was finished when he kicked it into Didak in the second GF. Never question his commitment and effort, unfortunately we have nobody else at the moment. Hopefully they make the tough call when Gwilt comes back. At least he can set it up if Fisher is forced back

Re: Jason Blake
Does lots of great things, but when he is in the middle of a chain, it almost always stutters to a halt. Solid, but not quick enough by hand or foot. You can just see that he gives the opposition time to get back. We need him to take the gorillas, but we lose something when rebounding.

Re: Jason Blake
The other problem tonight was that he and Fisher both flew for the same footy a couple of times tonight.

Re: Jason Blake
Blake is only there because our backline is a bunch of kids. Good kids though.
Bad management is bad management
Re: Jason Blake
Cost us 3 goals directly tonight, must go, play kids and lose rather than HIM making the same poor decisions week after week...
Re: Jason Blake
With a seven nan backline, the opposition will leave him loose...

What kid exactly ??? I agree Blake is looking slow and sloppy but sadly the tall defender cupboard is very very bare !!saintkid wrote:Playing Blake now only serves to delay a young player's progress. Re: Jason Blake
Blake and Polo were pretty good under pressure and I thought overall it wasn't our backline that lost it. A drawn game would have been fitting for the output of both tams. The umpires really handed Freo the keys other than that we were in the game the whole way. We probably missed Montagna and Dal Santo contributing their usual excellent games. Joey doesn't seem quite right so far this season. A couple of pieces of luck go our way and we would have won 4 games already.

Re: Jason Blake
I was ropable when Blake let Zac Clarke kick that goal from the boundary with his poor attempted tackle...
he did a lot of good running and some nice marking - but gwility obviously replaces him and we should be trying to get more game time into winmar as a long term replacement for the blake.
long term we need to pray that ferguson and winmar are up to it.

Re: Jason Blake
Sadly I tend to agree with this one. Been servicable but is slowly becoming a liability. The fact that he was never the best at anything (other than filling roles) is his downfall now as his standard drops.

Re: Jason Blake
the incident you speak of con was very bad. at least he is consistent but you are right, we will never be a champion side with blake in the team.
Re: Jason Blake
^ I don't get those comments.
Surely Ablett has proved this year that one guy doesn't influence a result good or bad?
The whole 'he won a game off his own boot' kind of theory is romantic.
As is saying one guy (or moment) cost a team a game.
Joeys out of bounds kick frustrated me for example, but there was at least 6 other 'moments' just in a 10 minute period...let alone the entire match.
