Not a great era to pick!!!
176 games
40 wins
3 draws
133 losses
Win rate ~ 24%
and that includes 11.5 wins in the "almost" 1978 season!!
Exclude 78 - 19.5% win rate!!!!!

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

It was character building to watch those games at the ground and suffer the derision and humiliation at the hands of opposing fans.
Personally I think character building was overrated.

When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Remember some absolutely shocking games at Windy Hill and the Western Oval during that period.
And I haven't even mentioned the King Hell grounds for us like Princes Park and Victoria Park.
We used to go every game during the season and stand in the rain watching us get flogged.
When Baldock and Winmar came over in 87 things started to turn.
It's no wonder we went so feral in the good years like 91 and 97.

I would also like to add the 97, 2009 and 2010 failures as character building. Yes my character is just second to none. No idea how this is judged or whom it is judged by but geez I'm awesome.ace wrote:Enrico_Misso wrote:Not a great era to pick!!!

This.
But I also reckon that if offered between Grand Final losses or non-appearance in them, I would have to say take the losses.
Collingwood 60's, 70's and 80's, and Geelong 1989 and thoughout 90's were both good sides, and let's not forget, it takes a lot of wins just to get into one grannie, not to mention several.
Let's remember how we all felt winning prelims, and actually getting to the big dance - and when we do break through, let's hope we win multiple Flags, not just the one.
