Is Gram our Jonathan Hay / Nathan Thompson

Post: # 1159487Post St.Rob8 »

Used to love Gramy but always feel he has more talent than he's delivered on. Reckon Pelchan may see if any other club out there rates him as a top player. Sadly the star who led the league for bounces out of defense with dangerous bomb goals from outside 50 is too often a passenger who rates himself and kicks a lot of really long points. Harsh I know, but if any of our players aproaching 30 but may still have some currency and are expendable, he's a possible.

We'd be incredibly lucky to get a second rounder for him, more likely a third.

Sportsline on Sky just showed a copy of tomorrow's Age and they're running a "Gram Up For Grabs" type story.

Usually get tomorrows main sports stories for the papers online at midnight, so will have to keep an eye out..

I think we'd be able to still get a bit of leverage on the 2009 BOG but no Norm Smith..

I think a 2nd round pick would be a good result.. Might be able to get someone of use with that pick with Pelchen at the helm..

Like B_O_N_D_Y implied it's a bit early for a link.

But they showed a copy of the "back page" on the show.

You would still want a good player or early second rounder for a player of Gram's quality. He had a bad year but he is still capable of being a very good player in the future. He is a loyal Saints player and would break his heart to leave the club he followed growing up. I can't believe how many people write off players and happily push them out. I hope he stays still.

he can still be traded, just not delisted with out paying out his contract. Would have to agree to leave though I guess.

Being contracted means nothing in trade week... The other club just has to agree to his contract or make a deal with the incumbent club to subsidize part of his contract. This was the case when Fev went to Brisbane..

You want your player to be contracted otherwise they would walk for nothing in the PSD if they got disenchanted!

That's correct isn't Ro$$co?

Or you could be too greedy for your own good and lose Ball for nothing.

At least we have a professional running the trade for us this year.

yeah, but you have to convince them to sign it without offering more than you think they are worth, otherwise you have to pay them when they stay.

"Jason Gram is on the table. Plus Windles' Whispers: all you need to know about day two of trade week.

ST KILDA says it has fielded offers for Jason Gram, but has labelled suggestions it is shopping around the running defender as "hysteria".

The club said yesterday that stars such as Brendon Goddard and Jason Gram were off the table, but the Gram speculation has not been emphatically denied by the club as yet.

"Like a lot of things around St Kilda at the moment, there’s been a bit hysteria and it’s really unfounded," list manger Chris Pelchen said on SEN.

"There’s a lot of good work going on down at St Kilda by a lot of people.

"In the case of Jason Gram - Jason’s name was brought up by clubs, but at the same time he’s a contracted player and we’ll work through things accordingly."

- Matt Windley

Gram has probably been hampered by injury ... you don't go from being a best on ground running machine in a GF to where he's at unless a chronic injury is affecting you.

Either that or RL's negative game plan has progressively stifled Gram along with Ray (who started off really well as a youngster with us and then just plateaued).

Maybe RL was all about developing negative game plans and not players ?

I'm looking forward to the next coach !

North's 2nd round pick is pick#40. About right IMO. Very weak draft this year.

3rd rounder for Gram is laughable on 2010 games.

Off topic, but I can see RL f***ing up Freo's chances of getting either O'Meara and Clark this year, both of which they were mad keen on at stages this year. I hope that is the case anyway...
