St Kilda Performance on Footy Show Review

Post: # 1152433Post miskycat »

In a word - revolting.

Can't believe that our club/players would perform such an act. It was so demeaning to women. Really disappointed in Sam Fisher as I had (obviously mistakenly) believed that he had a bit of a brain.

Particularly galling given the events that the club has been embroiled in this year.

The 'performance' was trash of the highest order.

It was rather embarrassing but it's certainly not something to fret about. The player revue these days is hot, near naked backup dancers rubbing themselves on footy players. I was more disgusted that our guys chose that shocking song. Credit to the Adelaide guys with Safety Dance! If you're going to play dodgy dance music, at least pick classic, cheesy dance music!

Well it was fisher being rolled in on avouch with a girl, then they are all over each other on the couch, then the walk off like they are going to a club, where they meet up with raph, CJ, eddy and another saints player dancing together with girls, typical night club, then fisher and girl take off again. To a pole where the girl strips down (not all) and does a pole dance (very flexible) fish takes his shirt off and is dancing around the pole, he has a very quick leap on the pole and ends up on top of the girl.

Thought it was yr typical footy show antics - that's why it was on late. Personally thought it wasn't great, but that is my opinion. Buys it the footy show!

I saw the humor in it - I actually thought they might do " Opps I did it again" all dressed up as school girls!

I'm female - not offended and I had an awesome perv on chips - as Bruce would say " Delicious"

I didn't see it

But

If you can't take a light hearted approach to our school girl, boozy, rapey, druggy past then what can you do?

Agreed, it was a bit of light hearted fun as all of the revue's are.

There's no more beer strikes at Christmas, no more petrol strikes at Easter, but the yearly outrage over the Grand final footy show will go on and on...

Thought it was absolute crap. Agree with the OP - embarrassing and nil thought went into it. Just shook my head in disbelief the whole way through it.

After what went on this year, if it was meant to be taking the mickey out of themselves, it fell as flat as a pancake.

Then again - I thought the whole revue was cliched, way too overly choreographed and contrived. Why everyone gets themselves worked up over it each year is beyond me :?

Demeaning to women... Turn it up.

It was awful, boring, and plain... By don't make it something it was not.

I didn't see it but from what I read it doesn't sound so bright.

We have had issues relating to rape and a school girl in recent times. Both which have been handled with incredible seriousness by the club and have exhausted supporters - and potentially had ill-effect on our season.

On paper if you think a Saints player making out with a girl on the couch and pole dancing antics is a hilarious gag and won't damage our reputation further in this area - you've got to be kidding me.

As a woman, I certainly wasn't "demeaned" in any way.

Yes, it was lame and embarrassing but that was because that's what the footy show is all about.

So it's not ok for men to perve on the scantily clad women in bikinis as that is sexist and terrible but it's ok for us girls to say how hot Chips is with no top on?? Can't have it both ways.

Also, the women on the show didn't have to do it, they chose to do it. They were also working and earning a living to support themselves and possibly a family. Better that then sitting on their bums living off the government me thinks.

I actually didn't mind it.

hey if they can have all those scantily clad women for the male watchers-- and 1 incorrectly placed dancer/camera in the green room during one interview

what was wrong with the chest of one footballer- showing less than one of the melbourne players and others in differant sketches- the rest of the boys were fully glad and not put into positions that showed bad co-ordination-- I haven't been to a night club recently But assume it was 100% less risque than some would do there.
