Fletcher Roberts ?

Post: # 1151354Post Enrico_Misso »

191 cm key forward for Sandringham Dragons.
They were 22 points down at 3/4 time in their Grand Final against Oakleigh Chargers on Sunday.
But Fletcher kicked 4 goals in the last quarter as the Dragons charged the Chargers to win by 8 points.

4 goals in a come from behind final quarter GF win.
That is pretty darn impressive!!!!!

Could do worse than draft him?

If he is any good he wont be still around at pick 20.
We are screwed this draft with Greater Western Sydney pciks 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and gold coast got pick 4 for finishing last.

GWS already has been able to list the best 12 off 17.67 year olds from last year.

The worry is that the way drafters work these days they will have stats on beep tests and sprints and vertical leaps and distance time trials and skin folds and character tests coming out of their proverbial backsides.

But completely ignore the fact that someone might actually be able to play.

Plugger and Diesel would never be drafted in 2011.

Round 4 pick 58 in 2001 draft.

He's still a bit fat and looks slow.

But can play a bit!

Have to take your hat off to who spotted him, and then importantly who developed him.

That's what we need to do better. Develop talent. Not that Dane Swans arrive every year! Or players like Sam Fisher....pick 55 wasn't he?

If he goes it will probably be as a rookie. Has had an ok year but was best for Sandy on Sunday in the GF. Is very fast for a tall guy. Just may not be good enough overhead.

So in the space of one page we have a Sandy Dragons player who may go before our first pick, or may miss out all together and be lucky to be rookied.

Gee I love Draft time :D 8-)

So we're an absolute certainty to get him then, to go with Stanley, Johnson, Walsh etc.

Srry that's wrong, he's got fairly good pace, he's pretty good off the mark, but he is excellent overhead. He has been a ruckman for the majority of his career, and he played ruck for melb grammar all year, so he's still learning as a forward. The one full game he played in ruck this year (for sandy) he kicked three and had something like 25 disposals.
I agree he will be late draft/ rookie. Saints have contacted him recently and I hope he's given a go.

Trouble is the AFL and Demetriou have shafted the existing clubs with their draft rules. The effect will be to cause great damage in the medium term to clubs undergoing a rebuild.

I think he was first spotted knocking some mag wheels off in a pub carpark. And the spotter said , now there is a future collingwood star!!

And the president said " I did not have sex with that woman"
