Sean gaining more respect from moi

Post: # 1092322Post Sainternist »

Dempster, once again, didn't do any wrong, that I noticed anyway. Jimbo Gwilt and he were our best in defence, IMO.

I liked how Sean handled himself against that sh*tstirring Geelong dunce at the end of the third quarter. Would have given him a shellacking if they were allowed to go "gloves off".

A tough campaigner is our Seany D.

I've been a bit of a Dempster bagger (privately) until this season. A bagger because his lack of offensive ability mainly and our need for more emphasis on attack. However, he has been truly great. Keeping SJ goaless is fantastic considering he has been playing brilliantly over the last few weeks.

i agree.
he certainly is at his best when he has a run with role with a key player of the opposition. even if it means rotating in the midfield.
great job SEAN.
hold your head high from last night.

now i hope you can be consistent and are credited with this role on a regular basis from coaching staff.
coz i still remember your bad games as a defensive forward are so costly.

I think Dempster and Peake could have easily been on the chopping block as guys on the wrong side of 27 but through hard work both have earned spots as consistent players (Dempster for longer) and at this point both have earned another year.

He is good until he gets the ball (not alone in the team at the moment). His best game will be "Opponent nil possessions, him nil possessions."

On attitude and KPIs alone Fisher should be captain and Dempster should be his vice captain.

Just wills himself to every single contest, it's in his mindset to be in the game for every minute.

Takes a very strong focus to do that.

Glad people are appreciating his work ethic, and good on him for earning a regular spot in the best 22.

Am I safe to say now he is officially a core member in 2011, and my tag worked it's magic again? :)

SainterK yes your tag is the business! :D

Whose on the cards for next year?

Steven, maybe, or Peake, even?

You've forgotten our most inspirational player. The one who did his knee in Round 2.

Having a very good year so far. Well done Sean.

But as I've never bagged him I have no need to apologise :)

I am pleased he has been solid for us this year (as well as in the finals last year) as I think people underestimate how much time it takes to recover from a knee reco, it is far more than the time out of the game. To me the sign of character is who can perform when the team isn't going too well. And congrats to SainterK for some very astute insight.

Totally agree with that Mick.

And people tend to forget just how well he was going when he injured the knee.

I agree. That and the role he is now playing suits him. When he was asked to play forward he was not in our best 22. This year he has played on the medium midfielder/forward type and done it brilliantly. In the 2010 finals he played on SJ, Gia, Didak and won them all. Well done Sean.
